Man, I really wish we could use our points to get other items with points. I have some saved up, but I can’t really get any “free” deals because I would always have to pay out of pocket to get the points. I was hoping we would see some more RR deals to roll back and forth, but it doesn’t look like that will happen. Going on my third week of not going to Wags to get a single deal.

I’m using my points to get the Advil rebate

I hate this new points system, I used to LOVE wags and was in there almost daily, last week I went in just to say hi to my girls working there, they were excited to see me even though I was not buying a single thing, they said that their sales are way down now and no-one is really happy about the points system. It is sad when you go to a store just becaue you miss the cashiers (and deals, but those are long gone so all that is left are the cashiers) and leave empty handed. πŸ™ poo poo on balance rewards. That is all I have to say about that.

I agree with you.
I just spent more than I’m used to spending and it feels like I didn’t come home with as much. I wonder how long it wil take for Corporate to catch on and make adjustments that bring back their loyal Register Rewards customers? πŸ™

On the upside, my local WAGS has experienced an attitude shift for the better!

Unfortunately they probably will not bring Register Rewards back because of what some customers were doing…..it’s sad that a few rotten apples spoil the whole bunch right?!??!!! So I know they will not bring the RRs back. I see that CVS and Rite Aid have cards too…just going with the flow. With the card the few “bad apples” can’t do the scams they were pulling. In the long run the Balance Rewards will be better for everyone πŸ™‚ Wait till you save up those points and get $50 off a purchase. I’m saving mine for the new skin care my Walgreens is getting…..Vichy!!!

Julie,
RRs were not stopped because customers were “running scams.” They were primarily stopped due to employee issues (ringing up massive amts of deals for themselves, for one). There will be a combo of RRs and points-no one else offers this savings Combo! Everyone needs to embrace the positive in saving in 2 ways-learn to use BOTH! As for the comments about not getting the massive deals everyone was used to-RRs were never set up to give customers huge deals and everything free. Its a business!

Ashley October 15, 2012 at 11:01 am

Where do you get your information on why the RR were “stopped”? First of all they haven’t stopped completely. And what do you mean about the employees getting deals for themselves? Elaborate please…. Thanks!

Not really sure where you guys are located, but here in Ohio (Toledo to be exact), we still receive RR’s. What state are you guys from and what exactly is the reasoning behind getting rid of the rewards?

Donna October 14, 2012 at 9:48 pm

I agree with both of you! I don’t go in there much anymore, either. Sad.

I agree with you completely Heather!

I don’t like the fact since the point system r store is always packed so I have a question I have 44,000 points I can’t get n e more now right till I spend those?

Reply

Lacey October 14, 2012 at 9:16 pm

I thought it was only allowing you to get 40,000. So I don’t think it will allow you to get anymore. I would use those. I plan on saving mine for Christmas gifts.

Victoria October 14, 2012 at 9:23 pm

I didn’t think there was a limit to points. I read someone said she had 70,000 points already.

Reply

dee October 14, 2012 at 9:47 pm

I asked n the manager said the cut off was 40,000 n that trans made it over if I have to gonna use points on sumpin wit rr

Reply

Jen October 14, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Not true. I have almost 70,000 points right now. You can only redeem 40,000 at a time, but the points still accumulate.

Reply

Jen October 15, 2012 at 9:37 am

And to add to that..I works at Wags and one of our couponing customers has over 300,000 points.

Reply

Amanda October 15, 2012 at 11:39 am

That is insane! I have 500 points. I actually try to steer away from purchasing items with points because I don’t want to deal with them. How much did that couponer pay out of pocket? Who needs that much stuff!?

Reply

Jen October 15, 2012 at 11:53 am

She rolled her RR into items worth points because we can’t order in bulk for her anymore. I wasn’t going to bother with the points either, even being an employee, but a lot of the things I stock up on generate points. I’m saving mine for Christmas gifts and a breast pump from the website. Even if I can only take $50 off at a time, it’s still worth it.

Julie October 15, 2012 at 12:37 am

You can save more than 40,000 points….that is the limit that you can redeem for $50. With all the deals the last few weeks I am almost there!!!

Every week its a challenge to get this program to work correctly. Today I went and bought 3 Robitussin, 2 Delsym and 1 Mucinex. Asked the cashier, who then asked a mgr if they had to be wrung seperately to get 4000pts (8000 total)..he said no but when I got home I only got 4000 pts. Now I have to go back and get it corrected unless I am missing something and can’t use 2 deals? Very frustrating…also how in the heck do I change zip codes at coupons.com now that they have changed the site?

Reply

Serena October 14, 2012 at 11:02 pm

Go to the local coupons tab at the top and put in your zip code, then go back to the regular coupon tab.

Thank you! This one has been driving me nuts for a while!

karen A October 15, 2012 at 10:30 am

Patty- just go onto your online acct, sign in and add your RFN number. It will add your points right away! If not call them and cs will do itfor you!

Julie October 15, 2012 at 12:33 am

Don’t go back to the store they can not add points to your card. You need to call Walgreens customer service toll free number. Have your receipt because they will ask for the Ref. # on the receipt. Nothing has to be rung up separately to get BR. Make sure you got the right size of item too. But the main thing is to remember that the store can not put points on your card after the fact you need to call Walgreens customer service.

dee October 15, 2012 at 12:59 am

All the walgreen stores can put points on your card the managers have a paper that walks them step by step through it they can add by 100 points and 500 points. So don’t let them tell u they can’t I have almost 400,000 points so there’s no cut off as far as I know. I have heard of someone having 10 mil points so I guess u still can. take advntage of th sytem

Reply

Jen October 15, 2012 at 9:39 am

Stores can put points on cards in amounts of 100 and 500 points, done several times to accumulate the correct amount of points. Only managers have the authorization to do it, but it can be done. -Wags employee here

Patti-

The deal is buy 3 or more, get 4000 points. If you want the 8000 points, you will have to return the 3 items & repurchase so that you get your additional 4000 points.

I’m not too fond on this point system. I wish they started a program like cvs or rite aid has. It seems like you have too buy a lot to get little points. Last week was probably the first week I didn’t do much shopping. And even less this week. And no one even knows at the store how the whole points system works. Like can you redeem only some of ur points without losing the rest? And how many points can u save up, does it stop at 40,000?

THe past couple of weeks I have only gone into walgreens to get my newspapers. I hate the new point system. THe first week was the ony week was the only week that had a lot of points. Not to mention we have alot of new cashiers who dont know anything. I have one lady that everytime I go in tells me I can;t do what ever it is I am trying to do even when I know I can. I have been shopping at walgreens for a year and a half and she has been at the store for 3 weeks! I really hate stupid people.

There are NO LIMITS ON YOUR POINTS!!!! Ihave notices a few stores are misinterpreting the policy- YOU can not redeem over 40,000 points at once! That does NOT MEAN that I have to USE them! If you have a store tell you this- CALL CORPORATE AND ASK FOR A DISTRICT MANAGER TO CALL YOU BACK! explain the store is telling you that you must spend your points and u believe its a misinterpretation! TheDM can then call your store and clear it up!

I don’t care for the new point system either. I only do the RR deals and those have decreased so I now rarely shop there.

I do enjoy “change”…but not this one…I hope that Christie can give some feedback as well as each of us to Walgreens….

I love the new points system, especially in combo with RRs. If you spend the time to figure it out, you can use both to your advantage, There are a LOT of misinterpretations with the new system.
-There are NO LIMITS on your points earned.
-There ARE limits on how many you can redeem at ONCE (40,000 or $50).
-Use your points for RR deals
-Use your RRs for Points deals
-If you dont get all your points, go into your ONLINE account, click balance Rewrads, click add points- it is SIMPLE
-If you do not have an online account- CREATE one and attach your card! Or just call customer service to have it added. Either way is totally easy.
-Black Friday will have a LOT of RR deals. Use your Points then if you want to cash in on RRs!

See the positive in the system. It’s not that hard and it’s beneficial if you put the time into it to figure it out. I have 80,000 points and it’s been a breeze to accumulated them. THat’s $100 in free merchandise, not to mention all the RRs along the way..and FREE stuff or CHEAP stuff. Every single week at Southern NM Coupon Club we set up deals for people to use to get points or RRs – put the time in yourself or find a blog that does it for you!!!

I like the points system but it started about the time I started Couponing. I switch it back and forth with my RRs and have really saved a lot.
