Didn’t work in Dallas, TX. Used Qs and previous $2 RR from Pop Tarts deal last week. I did get a $1/2 Q for Nestle Drumstick multipack. Anybody else??

If I use a $4RR as payment, will I have to buy a filler?

Reply

Heather M May 22, 2012 at 1:26 pm

I don’t think you would need to. You are buying 4 items and using 3 MQs (including the RR), so you should still be good!

Reply

olga May 22, 2012 at 1:48 pm

yes you do need a filler, the $1/2 attaches to both boxes.

Reply

Dean May 22, 2012 at 1:53 pm

I don’t think you need a filler. Two coupons are still just two coupons no matter how many products they attach to. With the RR you will only be using 3 coupons for 4 products so you’re good to go Karla. Maybe Christie will read this post again n clarify

You are right Olga, she needs a filler, the coupon attaches to two items!

rose May 22, 2012 at 3:56 pm

Karla, just bring a filler with you just in case. I think you do need a filler, because like everyone said, the $1/2 coupon attaches to 2 boxes.

That’s if your store will let you use the RR to pay for the ice cream, as it’s a dairy product and it states on the RR you can’t use it on dairy.

Yes Karla you will.

Christie – most of the comments above regarding fillers are incorrect, right? I’ve been on a break from shopping and couponing for the last two weeks so I suppose the policy could have changed but I’ve never known using a manufacturer’s coupon that attaches to more than one item (such as the $1/2 mentioned above) to require the purchase of yet another item (i.e., a filler). In my experience (as well as in my reading of the scenarios you so generously put together for us week after week!) the use of a coupon that attaches to more than one item can actually obviate the need for a filler, meaning that in the scenario above you could actually pay with two separate RRs if you wanted to and you’d still be fine. Has the Walgreens coupon policy changed or are the commenters who indicated that a $1/2 MQ would essentially count as two items in the coupons to items ratio given it would attach to two items simply misinformed? If you have a moment to share your thoughts with us I for one would be so grateful as this is a fundamental part of shopping at WAGS and I want to make sure I get it straight before I shop again! Thank you so much for all you do!

Hi Lucy – actually it totally depends on how the coupon is coded. So a $1/2 coupon can attach to one item or to two items at Walgreens – depending on how it was coded. That may be why you have never run into it before. So when there is a $/2 coupon or $/3 coupon I always include an extra filler in the scenario in case it attaches to both or all three items. Or you can bring an extra filler up with you just in case. 🙂

I bought (2) vinalla fudge and (2) vinalla and no rr. So I had manager rung up (4) vinalla and $4rr printed. Maybe it’s only certain kinds?

This is from the Walgreens coupon policy:

“The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register Rewards manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction. The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales tax must be paid, if required by state law.

The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register Rewards manufacturer coupons, must not exceed the number of items in the transaction. ”

I would interpret this as saying, “$1.00 off two items” coupon counts as one coupon, two items, not one coupon “attaching to” two items. With that being said, I have found every cashier to interpret the “rules” differently. Find a few cashiers and stick with them.

i think the policy changed . i recently went to shop at walgreens when to my really bad surprise the cashier told me my coupon that was 0.60c off 3 crunch bar count like 3 coupons (i was planning to use them as fillers but in that case they don’t even count to use the reward… and need one filler without coupon) . it use to be one coupon per item but now they won’t allow me to use the register reward unless i add more and more fillers …its really frustating .

I also used the $.60 / 3 Nestle candy coupon this past weekend and the new register would not allow cashier to scan my RR. I had exactly one less coupon than I did items, but the coupon attached to THREE items … the cashier manually entered my RR after counting my items to # of coupons. I don’t think any other cashier would have done that. I think some of the newer coupons maybe coded incorrectly, and if register allows it, it is not intentional. It wasn’t my intention to exclude a filler, but I forgot about q being on 3 instead of the usual 2 items.

dealgirl May 22, 2012 at 6:16 pm

The $1/2 Q will definitely attach to both items. I have had to add fillers for these type of Qs recently.

“$1.00 off two items” coupon counts as two coupon two item , if you use BOGO coupon it will “attaching to” counts as one coupon one items .

Pam May 24, 2012 at 3:37 am

Has anyone bought the drummies and used the coupon the $1.50 coupon that printed from a previous purchase? Did you get the rr?

Reply

Kristin May 25, 2012 at 1:22 pm

My store doesn’t have the treats on sale 2 for $6. Is the sale regional? However, my store does have the RR display next to the freezer. It says you get $4 Register Rewards when you buy $12 worth Nestle drumsticks.

For those that are NOT receiving the 4 RR.
The problem is the NEW registers.
The cashier has to ring each separately and NOT use
the Quantity key.

I have also heard that using the Quantity key on transactions
is a problem with RR not printing on other Transactions. HTH

I am talking about the NEW registers.
