Updates From the Field 10/2

by Christie Bisbee on October 2, 2011

Here are some updates from my trip to help your trip go a bit easier…

CEPACOL DEAL
The only Cepacol that will print the Register Reward is the Cherry one pictured. Neither the Mixed berry nor the Honey are printing the Register Reward.Β  So make sure you get the Cherry – the UPC on the one that worked for me was UPC 363824710167.

RICOLA DEAL
The Ricola coupon in the Oct book works for the Original Ricola but not the Dual Action. I did the Ricola deal today and I purchased this at two stores – and when I got home I realized my transactions were different based on how each cashier rang it up.Β  Here are what my transactions looked like…

***TRANSACTION #1***
Buy (1) Ricola Dual Action $1.99
(1) Ricola (Yellow Bag) Natural Herb $2.29
Total = $4.28
-Buy Ricola Dual Action, get any Ricola 19, 21, 24, 26 or 30ct bag free 10-02-11 SS x12/31 (Took off $1.29 price after in ad coupon)
-In ad Coupon for Cough Drops Took off $1.70 ($1 for one & $.70 for the other)
-$.50/1 Ricola Cough Drops 19-24ct (5021) Walgreens Coupon Book October (-$.50)
Total = $.79 or $.40 EACH

***TRANSACTION #2***
Buy (1) Ricola Dual Action $1.99
(1) Ricola (Yellow Bag) Natural Herb $2.29
Total = $4.28
-Buy Ricola Dual Action, get any Ricola 19, 21, 24, 26 or 30ct bag free 10-02-11 SS x12/31 (Took off $2.29)
-In ad Coupon for Cough Drops Took off $1.70 ($1 for one & $.70 for the other)
-$.50/1 Ricola Cough Drops 19-24ct (5021) Walgreens Coupon Book October (-$.50)
Total = FREE

I just wanted to point out that sometimes depending on how the same deal gets rung up you can have different results. I actually think that Transaction#1 seems right to me. What do you guys think?

SCOPE MOUTHWASH DEAL
The Dual Blast isn’t included in the $2.99 price, only the Original Scope. If you do purchase the original Scope look for bottles with samples of Dual Blast and a coupon booklet attached.

FINESSE DEAL
The Finesse Clean + Simple are also included in the $1.99 price. Keep an eye out for Try Me Free Rebate peelies on those. That gives you two options for these either the $2/1 Finesse rebate HERE or the Try Me Free Rebate for the Clean + Simple. I believe you can only do each rebate once. And don’t forget to use theΒ  -$1/1 All You, coupon from Sept 11.

How did your trip go? Find any great deals? Let us know! πŸ™‚

Heads up, the Robitussin Q in the Wags October book doesn’t qualify for the “Spend $20 get $5 RR”. The 4oz Robitussin qualifies for the RR, the coupon in the Oct book is for 8oz+.
Also, my IP’s didn’t want to scan either, cashier manually put them through.

i went this morning and my bf and i had 2 separate transactions w/the honey lemon cepacol. the cashier told us the reason the RR didn’t print is because we had used a RR (from last wk’s zarabee though…)to pay.

i couldn’t accept that answer and asked to speak to the mgr who i’ve dealt w/on many occasions, he was so nice, he didn’t understand why it didn’t print (and/or if it should?) but after reviewing the ad he gave us the gift cards for the RR.

My store was completely cleaned out of 2 rows of cherry Cepacol, but I waited in the checkout line long enough to see that they had a bunch down low near the floor, at the second checkout (across from the checkout nearest the door).

I did the Ricola deal and it rang up like your 1st transaction. I didn’t notice that it only took off .50 for the Wag coupon, I don’t understand why the dual action doesn’t work with it. All the coupon states is Ricola 19-24 count and the dual action is 19 count. Oh well, still a decent deal if you need them.

Actually, my Ricola rang up differently than either of your scenarios. I bought two of the cherry honey 24 count and here’s how it rang:

$4.98 (2 x 2-2.49)
-2.49 MFGC
-1.00 (October Coupon Book)
-2.40 (Wags in-ad weekly price)
= MONEYMAKER.

I did this twice and it rang up the same way both times!

You must have used a different coupon then because her coupon apparently states “buy Ricola Dual Action”

I BOUGHT 12 BOXES OF NATURE VALLEY GRANOLA BARS TODAY AT $1 PER BOX. AT CHK OUT I RECEIVED A CATALINA THAT SAID STARTING 10/3 FOR EVERY 5 BOXES PURCHASED A $3RR WILL PRINT. SCENARIO:

BUY 6 BOXES
USE:
3-$1/2 MQ
1-$1/2 WAG Q (WILL SUBTRACT $3)

PAY $6– RECEIVE 3RR!! 50 CENTS PER BOX

MELISSA October 3, 2011 at 11:13 am

So apparently the catalina that printed out yest was a false advertisement… I went back today to return and repurchase the granola bars so that I could get the RR but nothing printed. I showed my catalina to the manager and he said no such reward showed up in the system. As a courtesy tho, he did give me a $3 refund fo my aggravation which was very nice of him. Long story short no .50cent granola bars πŸ™

i had the same thing happen with the granola bars πŸ™

My Walgreens ad says that Nature Valleys are 2/$4. How can I get it for a $1?

Marianne October 2, 2011 at 9:10 pm

I think .79 should be right for the Ricola deal, but mine rang up so that I only paid 10 cents for two bags I think. I’m still not quite sure how that happened!

A question: if you use an RR to pay for something you can get a rebate for (like the Citracal) will you still get the full amount for the rebate, or do they deduct the RR?

i don’t get your ricola transaction. it looks the same.. lol. i’m a bit confused =S

My Walgreens refused to take off the weekly add coupon for the sale price of $1.29 AND the Walgreen October book coupon for 50 cents. I didn’t get othe other coupon so was hoping for the .79 price. She said the manager is refusing to grant both Walgreens coupons at the same time. I thought their policy was they could use both….so had to pay 1.29. …..

For the Finesse deal (or any other rebates, for that matter) can we use RR to pay? Or will they deduct the RR from the rebate amount since it is seen as a MQ?

To be on the safe side you can ask for Rebate Receipt so they won’t be able to see if you used a coupon. πŸ™‚

hey christie, new rumor floating around concerning rebates…they will only accept the original receipt….no longer will a gift receipt be enough.

Mary October 3, 2011 at 7:33 am

I asked for a rebate receipt at my Wags in Decatur, AL last week for the Brita pitcher deal and the MOD was very snotty and said the receipt I get is all I get. She was also the one that gave me the awesome deal of 98 cents/pack on the UP2U gum.

I hadn’t even checked my receipt until I read this and mine looks similar to you, until the part about the B1G1 Ricola coupon from 10/02 SS:

1 Ricola Dual Action $1.99
1 Ricola Green Tea $2.79

-0.50 IVC from Oct Booklet
-$2.20 for in ad coupon

And then the cashier took off $1.99, so total was .09 for both?? I think the issue must be with the B1G1 and the amount they enter for discount.

Heather October 4, 2011 at 10:27 pm

My transaction rang up the same as yours – 9 cents for 2 bags, awesome!

Reply

chris October 3, 2011 at 12:49 am

My Ricola came up completely different than anyones…I bought 4 of the same (dual action)

4 x 1.99
2 x-1.40 walgreens ad
-1.59
-1.59
so total was 1.98 for 4 (didn’t do the walgreens coupon book), but I still don’t know why…but I’ll take it!

I purchased the Nature Valley Granola Bars last night and a slip printed out for “future savings”. Not sure if that means a RR..it states, “Buy (3) get $1.00, (4) get $2.00, (5) get $3.00 coupon off your next shopping order. Is this a Reg. Reward toward any purchase? It starts 10-3 to 10-30. Please let me know, I may need to return my (4) I bought last night to get a better deal. Thanks

Hi i also got this, but it doesn’t seem to be in their system yet, but my store was awesome enough to get me the same amount in RR that i would have gotten buying the granola bars! it was weird though because i bought them at the same register that the “catalina savings slip” printed from last night! I <3 my walgreens!!

Good to know. Sometimes the system will take a day to set so I will wait until tomorrow to try this. I try to wait until Monday usually because in the past RR have not set yet and I was told to wait for one day. Not sure why, but oh how I hate returning everything on Sundays just to have to come back on Monday to shop again. πŸ™‚

Not sure where to put this or if you have already posted it but with the B1G1 Dove coupons I scored some awesome deals on 2 Hair Repair masks, 2 leave-in conditioners AND 2 Heat Repair Shampoo & Conditioners. The products are $5.99 or 2/$7 … I used the B1G1 and they have new $.50 and $.75 off of Dove haircare products behind the counter so I ended up paying $2.20 (the shampoo was only $4.99)-$2.90 for TWO products! Picked up a bunch and gave a bunch a way!

Hi Christie ~~ I wanted to reply to your original question about how the 2 Ricola transactions rang up differently and your comment was that you thought trans. #1 was correct. I guess I’m curious as to why you think trans. #1 is correct and trans #2 is incorrect. What are your reasons for thinking this?

I thought the “rule” was that you should give your manu. Q’s first and then the Wags Q’s … Do I have that backwards? Please help me to sort this out. Thanks in advance. I’m always interested to get the best deals but I want to be honest in the process too.

My Wags manager told me that the Cepacol RR’s weren’t printing at all, and not to even bother buying any. They also put up a sign, letting people know that the deal was only good on the Cherry (bleh)

As usual, we did NOT get the Ricola coupon in our Sunday coupon insert. I am in Central Texas, Austin-American Statesman newspaper.

I love my Walgreens!!!
For my Ricola deal I bought 2x Ricola Dual Action. Both rang up at $1.99 each.
I used the weekly in ad coupon to make them $1.29 each ($2.58 total).
I then offered the October booklet coupon but the girl had trouble scannin it. I told her that it was maybe only for the normal drops, not dual action but she said it should be ok and punched it through manually. So there I took an extra $1 off to make $1.58 total.
I then gave her my BOGOFF coupon and she checked the price and took the original price of $1.99 off. $1.58 minus the $1.99 she last took off made a 41c moneymaker for me!!!
