Updates From the Field 5/29

by Christie Bisbee on May 29, 2011

Here are some updates from my trip that will hopefully make your trip easier! I did a lot of driving and looking around today to get an idea of what was going on at different stores.

RITZ / NABISCO DEAL
Out of all the stores I stopped in I only saw one (which happens to be my favorite store) that had actually put up the signs for the (3) Ritz substitutions. Although I would have preferred Money Making crackers, I have to say I was pleased that they offered (3) alternatives, and I really do like Triscuits. My box of Triscuits even came with seeds on the back! I purchased one box of each of the crackers today to make sure the Register Rewards printed and they did with no problems. I did not however see a box of Crackerfuls anywhere.

BC/GOODY POWDER
I found these in good supply every where I went. However if you didn’t know where to look you might have missed them all together. Most of the stores I stopped in had them up from towards the Register. They are small packs of 6 but perfect to keep in your purse or for traveling. They are the only thing that gets rid of, or dulls my headaches so I am very happy about having a little pack I can toss in my purse!

ILLY CAFFE
Totally hit or miss on this one. Some stores flat out didn’t carry it and others had it in the refrigerated section where you’d find the Starbucks single serve drinks.

APPLIED NUTRITION CALCIUM
These are not in huge supply but I didn’t see a single person buying them, so hopefully they’ll last a while. The good news is that inside there is a little coupon book that includes a $1/1 Applied Nutrition Triple Calcium x12/31/13, making it a $1 Money Maker!

SMART RINSE/POCKET PACKS
No Smart Rinse anywhere but plenty of Pocket Packs. Both varieties I tried worked for the Register Reward deal.

How Did Your Trip Go? Find any great deals? Let us know! :-)

Got crackerfuls, but they were hidden behind the triscuits. My daughter’s watchful eyes found them. Also, almost 50 Right Guard deodorants were clearanced to $1.19 and $2.25. And they did ring BOGO!!! Awesome day.

I called corporate and asked them about the $5 off coupon on the Applied Nutrition and they said it should work- but I didn’t find it in any store.

I also tried to get the Hawaiian Tropic using the Wags coupon from the summer beauty book- both stores wouldn’t let me use the coupon. The first store couldn’t get the coupon to work, and said it was because I was already using MQ…but isn’t that a wags coupon? The second store just agreed to manually put it through but would only give me the $2 off one. Shouldn’t I get it off both? I think I need to go back tomorrow when the store mgr is there.

Sandi – I would try later in the week. I suspect those coupons aren’t in the system yet. They weren’t at my store and the usual manager wasn’t there. So, I’m going to try for that deal later in the week. I’d keep the receipt in case you decide to return it and re-do it once it’s in their system.

sandi May 29, 2011 at 6:44 pm

Ok- thanks, I will do that. I have finally gotten into the swing of things at Walgreens and today threw me a few curve balls…but overall I am still happy with how am I doing. Thanks!!

Where is the $5 coupon?

Reply

Rosy May 29, 2011 at 9:46 pm

I bought it today with no coupons. What coupon?

Reply

Kiapita May 29, 2011 at 11:26 pm

It’s in the June coupon book.

Reply

Rosy May 30, 2011 at 9:42 am

I can’t find it. I have the book in front of me.

Reply

Julie May 30, 2011 at 10:05 am

It is the one for Applied Nutrition Supplements.

I was told today that the summer beauty guide books, where the HT and BB coupons are, aren’t in effect until June 1st (Wed) so if you try to use them before then, they will not go through. My store has the books, but is not giving them out or displaying them until Wednesday. So, I will do that deal on Wednesday 🙂

So, today I go to Walgreens. It’s pretty empty at 6pm. There was lady with a CARTFUL of crackerfuls, and of course, none on the shelf. She had at LEAST 30 boxes. I walked to another premise of the store and there is another ith a cart full of the cracerfuls and RITZ crackers. No RITZ on the shelf either. SOOOOOOOO MAD. I just wanted two boxes! My kids and myself love these. I HATE greedy couponers. GRRRRR.

On a happier note, my store mgr also said the $5/1 June coupon book for applied nutrition will work for the calcium this week! WHOOHOO! $5 money maker.

FYI I am sure you’re aware, but if for some reason someone cant find the june coupon book, all the coupons are online http://www.walgreens.com/coupons.

Kalie May 29, 2011 at 8:35 pm

I tried it at one Walgreens and it kept making them both $7.99 B1G1, instead of 9.99 with beauty coupon coming off the 2 for 10 not making each of them cheaper, I don’t want my free item to be cheaper, I returned items, and tried it again at another Walgreens, I found bonus bottles this time with 30% more, not with other sunscreen it was a display elsewhere, it didn’t work again, and the poor women at the register was awesome, it was her 2nd day, said she got a kick out of it, I ended up buying 2 more boxes of jello bc they went ahead with Wag coupon and pushed it through but it was MQ then, that’s ok for 1.68 I got 2 large bottles of sunscreen and 4 boxes of jello (i payed with $3 in RR from ritz and icyhot. sorry that was long.

My store was all cleared out on the Ritz when I went this morning. Also the icy hot coupon didn’t work for me. I was told they wouldn’t adjust the price down. so bummer

My trip went okay, they were out of the Crackerfuls (which I wasn’t surprised about) and the B1G1 Right Guard and Dry Idea again, but oh well maybe next time. On a better note, I ended up with some pretty good Catalinas; I have no idea what triggered it though. These are the Catalinas that printed:

$2.25 off any Duracell Batteries 6ct or larger (this one says ‘Not a Redeemable Coupon’ at the top, so I’m a little confused on this because it has a scanable bar code on it….)
$1.00 off any one Puffs Facial Tissue
$1.50 off any one Always pads
$2.00 off any one Cover Girl Mascara
$3.00 off any three Nature’s Bounty Vitamins

This is what I bought:

2 Reynolds Aluminum Foil
1 Icy Hot Naturals
2 Off Clip Ons
4 Nature Valley Granola Bars
2 Nature Made Fish Oil Vitamins
2 Puffs tissues

On the BC and Goody’s Powder are there any larger sizes that would make for a good deal with the rewards and the -$1/1 MFR Coupons on each?

Reply

Christie May 29, 2011 at 6:54 pm

The RR is only for the smaller size.

Marella May 29, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Went to two Wags and the first one was out of Ritz Crackerfuls and the second store had two boxes. The manager was right there and told me to only take one box, which I did. Another came and got it when I was leaving the aisle. Both stores were out the Smart Rinse and the second store would not give rain checks because they received a statement saying there was an issue. But I was lucky to get everything else on my list of bargains.

Lily May 29, 2011 at 7:00 pm

I did pretty dang well for being without the Crackerfuls! I had seen 3 yesterday but I guess people bought them or something; I was there just a bit after the store opened. No matter, I got over my disappointment lol.

Paid about 1.50 and saved 35 bucks. OFF starters, popcorn (the single packs), Icy Hot, Aquafresh..loads of stuff. I was happy 🙂

My store had all the items on display but not the ritz. My store or i should say this store has 100s of rigester reward items but one lady comes and clears the shelf. this is every week’s story. this lady claims that she is ordering all the items. Manager is letting her buy all because he wants to business. This morning she knew about the ritz substitution so she went in the aisle and cleared the the shelf.
If someone has any advise please let me know. I complained once to dist. manager but i don’t think it’s working.

Got some illy coffee available at some stores, the celsius green tea another hit or miss, the listerine pocketpacks, reynolds foil although the price rang up 2.79 they still honored the 1.99 price, icy hot naturals and scott naturals. overall some very good deals and RR! I asked the manager about the calcium and she said the register wasn’t taking the coupon even though it says dietary supplement on the box.

I had a great trip to Walgreens this morning. Went to 3 different stores and got 4 crackerfuls total. They were offering the substitutes also. I also got a pack of Scott paper towels, ACT II popcorn, a Goody’s (there was ample supply) and a Reynolds Wrap. It was a successful trip for me and I went before and after Church. I got exactly what I went in for. Mission:Accomplished

had a great trip at my walgreens…i rolled the cracker deal and coffee deal 3 times…ended up with 3 boxes of ritz and 3 coffees for free. used a 2 rr from week before to start with. only paid 17 cents each trans. my wags had plenty of crackers and coffees! great day!

The $1 off coupon in the the Vitamin and Supplement Walgreens coupon book worked for me on the Applied Calcium!

The Smart Rinse is a manufacturer problem. They are redoing the packaging and Walgreens hasn’t gotten them in since they reset the aisle. (Which was three months ago.)

Kimberly May 29, 2011 at 7:32 pm

I did good. We had Crackerfuls at our store. I bought four boxes and left several on the shelf. I also took the ad and price matched them at Walmart b/c my son and I lovvvveeee these so I had already bought 20 coupons off ebay a while back. So I was pleased with my day.

Nermanda May 29, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Was it the Wags @ Lake Hazel & 5mile(my Fav Store) with the signs up? They had a sign up indicating what the three substitutions were very helpful, there was one box of Wheat thins left and I snagged it. Overall did pretty good at wags today, Had to buy batteries for smoke detectors and remotes and they had AAA generics on clearance for 2.34 vs. 2.99 and bogof 9volts with RR I paid 5 bucks for 2 6pk AAA’s and 2 9volt singles and some nail polish remover that I didn’t have Q’s for

I was able to find Right Guard deodorant with trial size body washes attached. Also, the beauty counter cashier had a Fusion ProGlide gift pack that was the same price as just the razor, and I received the RR. (She told me it would still print the RR before I even asked. 🙂 ) Try Me Free Finesse, double RR for the Listerine Whitening. All in all, a good day!

Marie May 29, 2011 at 7:36 pm

I went to Walgreens today and picked up the Crackerfuls and was told a limit of one, which I think is a little ridiculous because you can buy the other substitutions. I only got two because I received a Walgreens coupon on Thursday for $1 off 2. However the manager did say I could get two, so I could use my coupon so that was good. Then I was told that the Right Guard BW had a limit of 4; I only picked up six and there was a lot left on the shelf, so I didn’t clear it out. The one thing that bothered me was there was no limit sign on either the Crackerfuls or the BW on the shelves nor in the weekly ad. I wish they would do that instead of telling you at the register. My Walgreens has never put limits on items, but now they have due to the Extreme Couponing show, in my opinion.

Reply

Heather May 29, 2011 at 8:06 pm

I work at Walgreens–they do put limitations in the ad but it is usually a store by store basis if the enforce it or not. However, a lot of stores are because of the extreme couponers.

Reply

tish May 29, 2011 at 8:10 pm

I think the limit is in the ad… Always has been limited on RR from what I remember.

Reply

Marie May 29, 2011 at 8:37 pm

For the Crackerfuls, it says limit one per coupon offer meaning one RR on the ad. I know that if you buy two you don’t get two RR. The manager thought I was going to buy one and use that RR to pay for the other, which I was not going to do. Yes, Heather you are right the limitations are store by store and to my knowledge they have never enforced any limits until the extreme coupon show.

Reply

Marie May 29, 2011 at 8:47 pm

I forgot to mention Heather, there were no limitations in the ad for the Right Guard BW; the store decided to put out their own, which is fine, but put a sign out for the customers to know. On the Wags coupons in the ad, the limits are listed.

I stocked up on baby goods this week.

4 packs of Wag diapers 2/$10 down to $12 with my very last Infant Care coupon.

&

$21.99 Enfamil with $5 printable MQ on the Gentlease. However, I’m getting mixed messages about whether or not the $2 off Enfamil Infant Care coupon CAN be combined or not. My store wouldn’t take it because I had already used the $21.99 coupon from the ad (One Wag coupon, one MQ). But on another blog it said it should of been able to be combined — So confused. Cut my losses & said $16.99 for a can of formula ain’t bad at all.

Reply

Emma May 29, 2011 at 7:39 pm

Thankfully my wags had plenty of ritz, triscuits, and wheat thins. I was able to start with 2RR from last week and roll the cracker deal and coffee deal 3 times each. Came out only paying .17 cents tax each trans. and got 2RR back for next week. All free!

Mary May 29, 2011 at 7:52 pm

I got two off clip on fans, Reynolds wrap, the icy hot cream, three king size hersheys minis and one chewy spree(we were headed to the movies this afternoon). Spent 7.01 and got the 99cent rr. I saved $25.87. I felt good walking out with what I did bc the clip on fan was 6.99 alone.

At my Walgreens the Manager adjusted the price of the Calcium since the coupon wouldn’t scan.

So so day at Walgreens. My store was totally out of the Ritz, replacements, reynolds(had an issue in giving a raincheck) and goody. They had the calcium, no right guards or dry idea and my coupon for the Hawaiian tropics did not go through. They had to manually put it through and it did not ring BOGO they also had to rering all my purchases to correct the issue..total for Hawaiian Tropics were 10.49-8.00($4.00 manu and $4.00 Wags )= 2.49 for two 35% more bottles.

Totally Free:
3 Crackerfuls, 4 BC Powders, 3 Icy Hot, 2 Illy Coffee, 1 plate & cup toddler set (filler),1 Palmolive (filler) I couldn’t find the price for the aluminum foil, so I will try back later this week. Everything was pretty decently stocked at my store.

Great day at Walgreens! All my stores had plenty of Crackerfuls and other Nabisco crackers for the RR deal. The first store I went to had plenty of Icy Hot, the second had none, and the third had lots but would not adjust the coupon down. I’d forgotten that there is a new manager there who says you have to buy enough items to cover the face value of the coupon so they can take the whole value of the coupon off. So I could get two Icy Hot and use one coupon and get one RR back. That wouldn’t be a bad deal per se, but I declined to get the Icy Hot because it would mean refiguring all my transactions (which RRs and how many to use, etc.) I guess if I want more Icy Hot (which I do, as I’m an athlete and go through a lot), I’ll have to go back to the first store or others.

Despite that glitch, the overall day was great. I started out with 2 $1 RRs and got 6 boxes of crackers, three ACT popcorns, four Icy Hots, three Illy coffees, four bananas and two kids’ Aquafresh. I spent less than $1 out-of-pocket and ended up with $8 in RR ($6 more than when I started).

Reply

Kiapita May 29, 2011 at 7:59 pm

P.S. Will any Listerine trigger the $2 RR? There was some kid’s Action Blue Listerine on clearance at one of my stores.

Reply

Kathy S May 29, 2011 at 8:05 pm

My store was out of the Crackerfuls, Scott towels, the coffee, and the Right Guard. I went to my store at 2:00 today, and manager said they couldn’t issue rainchecks on RR’s (and they won’t be getting any new stock until next week).

Reply

Jessica May 29, 2011 at 8:15 pm

walgreens by me had 9 boxes of crackerfuls.
I also got banana boat sunscreen….bogo and they had $2 off tags on them. made it 2/$6 which isn’t too bad for baby sunscreen.

Has anyone had any luck with the listerine whitening plus restorative rinse or just the whitening rinse? Trying to figure out which are on sale that will also print out both rewards. tia!

Reply

At my store the Listerine whitening was the one that rang up 3.99 and it printed up a 1RR and a 2RR which makes them free with the $1 off coupon.

Sherrill May 29, 2011 at 8:34 pm

No Crackerfuls or Scott paper towels on the shelf at my store, so I asked the manager. He went to the back and got one of each for me–said they were in short supply so he was “handing them out.” Very interesting–first time that has ever happened before!

Amy May 29, 2011 at 8:45 pm

Also, Walgreens brand diapers are 2/10! If you use the 2/1 ivc from the infant care book twice, it makes them 2/6! I stocked up! 🙂

Betty May 29, 2011 at 8:51 pm

The five dollar on the applied nutrition was not working at my store, and when we examined the coupon it said it could not be combined with any other offer, and since a RR is an offer it would only ring with the two pictured items. We had no problems with anything else. We ‘hand out’ many of our items, so that more of our customers can enjoy the deals. We had lots of Scott tho, so it wasn’t a problem, altho we do stick to the limit. I can’t pick and chose who to limit, that would not be right, so we limit all.

Reply

Kiapita May 29, 2011 at 11:28 pm

All those coupons say they cannot be combined with any other offer, but they all usually work with manufacturer coupons, and produce RRs.

Reply

Lynnea May 29, 2011 at 8:51 pm

No Crackerfuls, and a lady nabbed the last Scott towels as I was heading down the aisle to get them!:( But found the Right Guard body wash..was able to get 4 of them.

Had issues with the Icy Hot…they didn’t know how to adjust the coupon down, so they said we needed to buy something else. I hand hubby a 25 cent package of poporn so it would go through. Then when I try to go through with the coupon he tells me the icy hot coupon is not for the icy hot cream only the patch. Of course it’s not, but he is trying to convince me….and as he is, another manager comes up and says…”The Icy Hot coupon is fine, send it through….it’s for ANY icy hot.” Apparently another manager told him it wasn’t good.

Then I had issues with ALL of my WAGS coupons. NONE of them rung up!! I had one for the off products, the Tylenol Heat patch thing, and a Hershey’s coupon. He forced them all through for me after verifying I bought the items.

Then I had problems with the B1G1 Right Guard coupon. It would not go through at all. He said he could only take off $4.49 not $4.99(the shelf price)….which was fine. He called up the manager again….and she said to push them through. BTW…she was AWESOME!! Everytime she came up she said…”I used that coupon myself…it’s good.” So I’m very thankful she was there!

All in all I got 2 OFF clip ons, 1 OFF spray, 4 bodywashes, 1 Tylenol Precise Heat pad thingy, 5 microwave popcorns(fillers), 2 reynolds wrap, 2 Hershey 12 oz bags(which daughter paid for), and 2 Icy hot Creams….Subtotal: $2.69!!!! I paid more in tax than I did in product!! WOOT!! Oh….and I walked out with two 99 cent RR’s, and dd gave me $4 for her candy purchase!! Totally worth the hassle today…and I don’t usually say that.

I actually worked at Wags today. One of my regulars came in and took all 3 crackerfuls, and then said she wanted 9. I thought to myself 9? Wouldnt you want to reserve the items for others? Anyways she got all three crackerfuls. Then another regular started getting mad at me because 1) I didnt honor her coupon, she wanted to use ritz crackers coupon on triscuit, I called the manager and she said no.2) Then she got mad because I explained to her she cant grab every substitution off the shelf. And she says “where in your policy does it say that?” I showed her the back of the ad. 3) Then she used more coupons than items, got mad at me and said other stores honor it. But I whipped out that policy and showed her she cant have more coupons than items. Had a 3 customer who Ive never seen before try to use a $2 off Ecotrin on a bottle. Problem is it says 65 count or larger and the Ecotrin on sale is 45 count. So he was pretty mad, but I have to follow rules. I love coupon customers, but I have a job to keep. Am I being a bad person by following the rules?

But other than that my trip was great. I got the illy, an icy hot, some triscuit (which thanks to my limiting I was able to buy one), and some arizona tea. Im pretty proud of myself :).

No J doesn’t sound like your being the bad guy, I love when the cashiers are familiar with the coupon policy :)As a customer is is frustrating when things don’t work the way you planned, but hey that’s life, no need to take it out on the person helping you. I went to 3 wags today, and had awesome cashiers at all. One store though the other cashier was quite rude to the couponers, and the manager was irritated when I questioned the Hawaiian Tropic transaction. I ended up returning it and going elsewhere, where it worked like a charm :), I did get my checkers names though to give them kudos.

Reply

Katie May 29, 2011 at 11:58 pm

You are definitely not the bad guy. A couponer should read the coupons they are trying to use and also read the ads. I think its unsavory for couponers to try to use the wrong coupons to save a bit. Especially since there are so many deals week in and week out.

I love cashiers that know the rules, are helpful and don’t get annoyed at people who are trying to save a buck.

You sound like a great employee — the kind I hope I get when I go to the store. I’m not looking to cheat anybody — I just like to use coupons when I legitimately can and not get crabbed at about it. It sounds like you know the coupon policy and are just following basic rules so you don’t get in trouble. You’re not against coupon users — just those doing it wrong. Please don’t give up on all coupon users. It sounds like this was a stressful day for everyone. I hope your next day is better!

Read somewhere today that the Crackerfuls were out because of a manufacturing problem? I don’t think I’ve seen those at my Wags ever before.

Reply

The Crackerfuls are a manufacturing problem. Nabisco tried to make it right by offering the substitution. Unfortunately news came down very late to the stores to stock up on substitute items. My local WAG had almost all my items, but a slim number left of a few items by late afternoon.

Very happy! VERY early this morning I went to a 24hr. Wags and tried the Calcium deal. The $5 June Wags book coupon beeped and she wouldn’t accept it, period. Much later in the day, I went to another Wags (we only have 2) and when the $5 coupon beeped, she just said “The way it reads, it should work. I’ll just input that your $1 [manufacturer] coupon is actually a $6 coupon so it’ll work.” Wa la! I paid $4 and received the $10 RR for it. The best part is that this was in the middle of the day and they were FULLY stocked, so I was able to do that deal 5 times! She thinks that since this is the first day that the June book can be used, it wasn’t in the computer yet. She said to give it a day or two and try again. With shelves that stocked, I’ll definitely try it again later in the week. I just can’t figured out why the shelf wasn’t empty with a $6 money maker? Ah well, more for me.

Where is the calcium located in your store? The clerk in my store could not find it.

No crackerfuls available so I was going to buy the regular Ritz crackers, which I thought were also supposed to be $2, but they had a sign saying they were $3.49 so I didn’t get them. The only thing on my list I was able to get was the Dry Idea deodorant. They were out of the Ecotrin and the Aquafresh kids toothpaste. I was disappointed because this was my first attempt at a Walgreen’s trip. I went around noon today. Do you have to go super early to get the deals? Do they usually get more stock during the week?

They are different items, but for same RR, you could do the crackerful and icyhot together and both RR would print at the end, because they are different companies.

I LOVE this website and definitely getting tips on how to shop and save money for my family. But some of you ladies are so selfish and dont think about the other moms or shoppers. I was at walgreens today and noticed this lady in front of me had 6 of the free Icy Hot, 4 Ritz crackers, and also other things in which she had coupons for and/or receiving RR for. She of course asked to make several transaction. The limit on these RR items are limited to one. Most stores usually let you get away with this rule. However, since i was shopping after her, there were no options left for me. She even got rude with the clerk saying she comes in all the time and they let her ring multiple transactions regularly. To the point where they had to call a manager up. This is really ridiculous. Some of you ladies are down right selfish. There is a reason why there is a limit on these things. A few is fine, but could you leave some for the rest of us. I love using coupons and at the end of the month when i add up my savings. I impress myself. Stores do need to order more in the event of expected sales. But still to see a fellow coupon-er acting so disgraceful even to the point of cursing out the clerk and having a manager called up front. Its embarrassing and holds up the line. I, too, shop items that are at great sale but i have my coupons out ready to go when checking out and certainly do not intend to come in and try to act like the biggest jerk i could be for some free stuff.

Sheila – We always encourage everyone to be considerate here. I write up a maximum of (3) transactions for those who choose to to use and it always says at the top you don’t have to do them all in one day. Plus I try to create them with only 1 of each RR deal. So my bet is that gal wasn’t following a Wild For Wags scenario. 😉

This was my fault for not reading closely, but if you are getting Head & Shoulders to get the $1 RR and using the “buy shampoo get conditioner free” coupon, you have to buy the HUGE “family-size” shampoo and the smaller conditioner.

No crackers of any kind, no Illy coffee 🙁

The bonus size Hawaiian Tropic didn’t automatically deduct the second one free but the manager fixed it for me. The cashier put through the Summer Beauty book Qs for those sunscreens and the Dickensons manually, but I’m not entirely sure if it all came out right – total seemed high – but I’m too Wagsed-out to sort it out right now! I would definitely wait a few days on those items if you can.

Rebecca May 29, 2011 at 10:37 pm

I went to two stores… First store had the crackers behind the counter so i guess if you didn’t ask about them, you would just assume they don’t have any. And they also only had three of the coffee. The second stores didnt’ have the crackers but i did see the sign offering the alternative (which none was in stock, so maybe someone cleared it?)

Shawn May 29, 2011 at 10:43 pm

Was quite happy to NOT find the Crackerfuls at the two locations I visited. I mean…I wanted to make the money “overage” on the purchase, but given the choice between 6 Crackerfuls (which would have lasted probably three days) and a box of wheat thins or Triscuits (that will probably last a week)…I’ll go for the later of the two.

That said, I was quite happy to pick up 7 boxes today (4 Triscuits & 3 Wheat Thins) as my snack “stockpile” was running dreadfully low and needed a quick bump. This should cover me for a couple months again.

…and if it couldn’t get any better…with the roughly $9 overage on those, coupled with another $4 I made on other items grabbed, my family had some SERIOUSLY tender sirloin steaks for dinner…for free!!!!!!!

Thanks Nabisco for a seriously good dinner – and thanks Christie for the intel!!!!

Great haul overall.

Shawn, how did you get $9 overage on the 4 Triscuits and 3 Wheat Thins? I couldn’t find any coupons for those.

Reply

Shawn May 29, 2011 at 11:10 pm

I had a few coupons from a bit ago that were $1.50/1 for Crackerful. Don’t remember the dates on them, they’ve been sitting in my cabinet for at least a month or so now.

Because (I presume) the stores were allowing the substitution of the Triscuits and the Wheat Thins, they were also allowing the usage of the Crackerful coupons as well to match out, and then getting back the RR.

With 5 $1.50/1 and 2 $0.75/1, I ended up with a $9 overage (obviously slightly less b/c of sales tax), but roughly that, if that helps.

Reply

Floppy Elephant May 30, 2011 at 1:03 am

Thank you, Shawn, that helped. And may I say WOW, you got really lucky with them allowing you to use the crackerful coupon on the substitutions. I had quite a few of those $1.50 coupons but never thought to ask if they’d work on the other products. I didn’t know you could do that. Now I’m kicking myself!

Reply

Shawn May 30, 2011 at 1:31 am

Thanks – had to ask since they were doing the substitution and turned out that I got lucky.

Speaking of lucky, sounds like you made out nicely on that Calcium RR though – thought I wouldn’t be able to do that until June because it’s in the June booklet. Will DEFINITELY see if I can get a ‘win’ on that one as well…

Keep up the great work!!!

The coupons in the June booklet are good now. They went in effect yesterday.

It’s kind of disgusting hearing that some of you purchased 4, 6, or even TEN boxes of these crackers knowing well that there was a manufacturing problem! How about you come to our stores and have customers yell at YOU instead of yelling at us innocent workers who have no control over what we have or don’t have in stock??

& to the person that said the tylenol store coupon beeped, it’s because it expired yesterday.

Reply

Kiapita May 29, 2011 at 11:35 pm

Calm down, please. The supply situation was different throughout the country. One of my stores had HUNDREDS of cracker boxes on display and the workers told me there were plenty more in back. All the other stores said they had plenty in supply. Several of the people who got multiple boxes (including myself) clearly indicated that they only picked up one or two at each store to avoid clearing the shelves.

I am sorry that you have customers who would yell at you. Their behavior is completely inappropriate and I’d be happy to tell them so if I shopped at your store and saw them acting up. But it is not the fault of people in another part of the country that make purchases that are consistent with the supply levels at *their* stores.

Reply

Guest May 29, 2011 at 11:40 pm

I’m sorry – it was just a stressful day at work and I tend to vent afterwards. You’re correct about the supplies varying among stores and I apologize. I just hate when customers blame the first person they see for something we have no control over! I literally cringed having to tell people we’re out of the ritz crackers every time someone asked. I genuinely felt bad 🙁

I agree with you – I think it’s obnoxious to get more than one when they first go on sale. If they still have some on the following Saturday, then have at it. You’re really only supposed to get one of each RR. I would totally support them using a card like CVS to limit to one. (Unfortunately the card they are testing is nothing like that).

I also think it’s ridiculous to send “hundreds” of boxes of Crackerfuls to one store and none to most others. Where is the logic?

Reply

Amy May 29, 2011 at 11:58 pm

I had a bad trip today and it took forever checking out. The scanners beeped on every coupon. If you buy the got2b with the All You coupons, you may have issues, too. Only one got2b Q would go through and the manager finally had to do an override for both coupons to work. I actually got so sick of the manager telling me it was my fault that the coupon wouldn’t scan (like I was not buying the correct product–even though the Q said “any”) that I told him to remove the items and I wouldn’t buy them at all. This naturally prompted him to push through the coupon. What kind of customer service is this? Will avoid this Walgreens in the future–should have stuck with my favorite store.

I went to 4 Wags this morning and made out GREAT!. Only 2 stores had crackerfuls. I was able to get 2 at each store. I also got 8-BCs, 8-Icy hot, 4-Illy, 4-aluminum foil, 2-Right Guard deodorant (bonus with bw attached), 10-Dry Idea, 4-gallon Arizona tea, 4- Skinny cow candy, also found 2-Nivea aftershave on clearance for $1.74 and I had 2-$1 off coupons. I spent about $15 cash, used some RRs (from Reach) to help get my subtotals as low as possible. I got back RRs for the BC, Icy hot, and Illy.

I went to 4 wags today, got up early cause the stores around me are always out of everything in the afternoon. There was about 7 people waiting for the store to open…now i know where all the stock goes. In the end i got 4 boxes of crackerfuls (at different locations, cuz all had hardly any) 5 icy hot, 2 reynolds foil, 6 illy coffee, 5 papertowel, 6 ecotrin (my dad takes this daily). I made out well. Went to get the applied nutrition deal and they wouldn’t let me use the coupon, is it because its in the july book and won’t work till the 1st??

Reply

Julie Smith May 30, 2011 at 10:01 am

It is the June book but started on May 29th. It wouldn’t work for me either and they told me that the calcium is a vitamin not a supplement so the coupon was not a match. HTH.

Reply

Pam May 30, 2011 at 11:20 am

That is crazy: Calcium in NOT a vitamin, it is a mineral. And both vitamins and minerals are SUPPLEMENTS! They supplement your diet…duh! I can’t believe that is the excuse they are using. Do they not have pharmacists there that can educate them?

hi just wanted to let everyone know i got the calcium from applied nutrition, they let me use the $5 coupon in the june coupon book which was $5 off applied nutrition supplements or vitamins. if your store doesn;t take it there is a $1 off coupon in the vitamin booklet located in the store. the first trip i used this coupon the second trip i used the $5 off one no problems. our store had everything but the ritz and the icy hot also used bogo on sry idea got 2 for .35

There was a sign at my Walgreens about limiting the rr deals to one per person per week. The manager said it was new policy, though he didn’t have a problem with people getting more that one he had to enforce it. He said to come on Saturday and if he still had a lot left we could do as many as we want. My store is very coupon friendly and the managers are very accommodating so I don’t know if it just this area or going to be at all. Sad for me because I live in a small town where there is NOT a Walgreens on every corner.

Reply

Lindsey May 30, 2011 at 2:17 pm

Victoria, my Walgreens said the same thing! And it’s a coupon friendly store too. They have always been SO nice, but she said they are starting to limit to one RR per deal. SO frustrating. I feel like this is all from the new TLC show 🙁

There is a 5.00 coupon off applied nutrition in the June Monthly coupon ad you can use toward the triple calcium.

My store did have crackerfuls, I went 15 minutes after it opened and was able to grab two. However, I did find my local shelf clearer in action, she had cleared the shelf of all but the two I got – I actually had stopped in, bought one, ran another errand and hit the store on my way back home, to find only one left and shelf clearer in the cosmetics check out doing a million transactions! My store had Wheat Thins and Ritz advertised as alternatives. My store puts the free after RR’s on little tables in cosmetics, and were just putting out product Sunday morning. I grabbed a coffee drink as they were setting them out on my second stop in. Although, I am drinking it this morning, and it’s not my favorite!

I stopped by my local Wags on Saturday around 4:45 to see where the Right Guard BW and Scott’s towels were. While I was there I saw the manager and asked if they ever turn on the Sunday sales on Saturday. He,very kindly, said that they were on right then. I then noticed that the staff were in the process of changing signs. I walked out with $23 worth of items that were on my normal grocery list for $8! I’m very pleased!

On Sunday morning, I found EMPLOYEES clearing the shelf of Crackerfuls. I watched two different pharmacy employees each grab two boxes of Crackerfuls, which cleared the shelf. Has anyone else seen this at their store? I think it’s ridiculous that the store would allow employees to take the last boxes of an item on a special sale like that.

Does anyone other than me think it ridiculous that when you go to the store at 8 am on the first day of the sale they do not have a majority of the advertised items? If they gave out rain checks on the register rewards I would be ok with that but actually it ought to be illegal to advertise a bunch of stuff you can not even have available for the fist couple of customers.

Did you have a cashier price check the Wheat Thins or Triscuits? My store had no info up about substitutes either, but the other crackers did ring up as $2 and produced the $2 RR. 🙂

Reply

nicole May 30, 2011 at 11:10 pm

I have had the same problem at many Wags near me. Last week I was in shopping and seen an employee clearing out a bunch of the bodywash that was free (don’t remember which king because I did not want any). I understand that is one of their perks, but sometimes it seems like overkill.

Reply

Lynn in MD May 30, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Thanks for this. There were no “Sorry” signs up at my stores and the Nabisco items (other than the non-existant Crackerfuls) were not marked on sale at my store… but I picked up a box of Triscuits and sure enough it rang up as $2 and produced the $2 RR. I paid for it with the overage from Ecotrin. 🙂

Andrea May 30, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Ecotrin is 99c with the in-ad Wags Q and there are $1.50 MQs from a recent insert available ($.51 profit) or $2 MQs found in boxes ($1.01 profit). 🙂

So, I have a question. Not about the crackerfuls, but about the mouthwash (listerine). Is it spitting out $2 and $1RR on ALL, or just the whitening? I NEED mouthwash bad, by the end of the week my current bottle will be gone, and I am a new couponer so I would like to get a few bottles… and want this deal!

So what has everyones experience been with the mouthwash?
Thanks in advance.

sorry I am so buggy. I am new to couponing, and am noticing a lot of you are having issues with stock at your walgreens. I wont be able to go until tomorrow (I am not taking my three kids with me today LOL), and have very precise plan of action for what I want to get (1-2 of most things), and rolling RR’s to pay for the next transaction. I think I would/will have a panic/anxiety attack if my “plan” doesn’t go as planned, because I am NOT good at reconfiguring things out. What do you do when this happens to you? I have 4 transactions that would take place and if one item is out, it will mess my totals/items up! HELP!

Reply

margaret May 30, 2011 at 6:21 pm

andrea, I would take 2 plans of action. take your original with you. then make another plan excluding the crackerfuls, listerine smart rinse, icy hot and the illy coffee. I noticed that most stores are out.
That way you just have to do a little rearranging in the store depending on what plan of action you have. Thats what I had to do.

Hi Christie,

First of all I want to thank you on behalf of all the new couponers for taking the time to teach us how to shop and save at one of my favorite stores.
This weekend I found everything except the CALCIUM, I’m in the Miami area, I went to seven different stores trying to find the Calcium and as per the store Managers they never received the product. According to them this is a new product and never made it to the stores. :(((

If you are from the Miami area and found the Calcium please let me know WHERE??????????

Thanks in advance.

@ Andrea
The Listerine RR deal will give you 2 register rewards when you purchase the Whitening. I purchased the 16 ounce Listering Whitening and received a $1 RR (says Listerine) and a $2 RR (says Listerine Whitening). I also bought a regular 1 L Listerine and received the $1 RR only. Hope this helps.

Also, they have an AWESOME deal on Finesse Shampoo & Conditioner (the hypoallergenic type called Clean & Simple). They’re priced 2/$7. You get a $5 RR and can use the $1 off of 1 coupon on each one. This makes them free! Plus, there is a $2 mail in rebate for Finesse. This is our favorite brand of shampoo/conditioner so I was excited about getting it.

I was not able to receive the $5 off Applied Nutrition coupon because they said they cannot give it to me due to the fact that it cannot be combined with another offer, implying that the RR counted as the other offer and that is why the coupon beeped. I’m irritated to see that at other walgreens they accepted it!

OMG & FYI:

I went to my nearest 24hr store around 11 pm. That is not my usual store, but it’s 24hrs & it was late. OMG, what a cashier. I was sent to cosmetics to have a Rain Check written. She said (among other things) that she’s “not into getting everything for free” or “hoarding”, insinuating I was. I showed her my purchse of all 4 ITEMS I planned to “hoard” (1 foil, 1 icy hot, 1 Illy drink & 1 asprin). She had to call a manager over with a question & referred to me as “we got another Super Saver”. WOW I was very well behaved, but I am regretting it. SO rude! She also informed me that “the people who come in with a B1G1 Free coupon to go along with their B1G1 Free sales are about to be stopped”. She said it doesn’t make any sense to get it all for free. I explained how the store is only covering the 1 item & the manufacturer is covering 1 item & she said “well I never thoguht of it that way.”

I would be calling corp except the assistnt manager was so nice. I was ready to go so I didn’t get into all of it with him.

Question though- What has anyone been told as far as getting a Rain Check written on a deal that involves Register Rewards. (ex. Calcium on sale for $10 and get a #10 RR) I had corp customer service telling my usual store’s manager to do it for me(even when items are free), but seems most managers agree that they are not to do it.

We have two wags in our town. Honestly, if they are going to impose limits, I wish they would just create a store card to enforce it rather than letting it be at the discretion of management. I love being able to get mulitples on the deals, but it also gets tiresome to trek across town to the other wags only to find the shelves cleared.

My Walgreens trip didn’t turn out quite as great as I had hoped. The Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer SPF lotion bonus pack did work for the B1G1 deal, and I paired it with a regular lotion. I used two $1/1 manufacturer coupons, and the coupon from the summer beauty guide. That coupon only took off $2 instead of the $4 I was expecting. Then, I looked at my receipt, and the amount taken off for the free HT lotion was 8.99, despite the fact that the lowest price between the two was 10.99. Obviously, it subtracted the beauty booklet coupon off the price before making it free. That means the price for the two lotions was 9.99 (the highest priced one (11.99) minus two $1 manufacturer coupons). I think I’ll get a better deal this week by doing a lip balm/lotion combo to get the gift card at Target. This was really long — I hope it can help someone!
