$3 Bufferin Money Maker!

by Christie Bisbee on October 17, 2010

Here’s a nice little money maker for you! If you look in today’s paper we have both a coupon for Bufferin & a Mail In Rebate up to $3.99.

The MIR does specify that it will be for the amount paid, minus the $3 Bufferin coupon, however there is also a $3 coupon in the October coupon book!

So here’s what this deal should look like…

Buy
1 – Bufferin Low Dose 81mg 130ct $5.99
Use
1 – $3/1 Bufferin Low Dose 130ct 10-17-10 SS
1 – $3/1 Bufferin Low Dose Aspirin (81 mg 130 ct) (5781) October Coupon Book
Total = $.01 Money Maker
(buy with something else to absorb overage!)
Send in MIR for $2.99 = $3 Money Maker!

So, if I have 2 each of the coupons needed, but the rebate states only 1 rebate, do I have to purchase the bufferin separately, or can I still put them on 1 purchase?

You can buy them separately and then you can send one rebate to you and one to a friend. 🙂 What a nice surprise!

I noticed this one in the store, and was so jazzed! Thanks for posting. I was going to post, if I didn’t see if anywhere.

About adjusting the price, my cashier totally refused to adjust for the Oreos last week, so I decided not to get them

Grace I am having the same problems at my store, I asked her to adjust the Nivea coupon and she said they are not allowed to do that, then I asked the manager if he could and he also said no. I think I’m going to call corporate tomorrow.

Walgreens now has a corporate coupon policy. Print it off and carry it with you to the store. If it’s in writing from corporate they can’t say they can’t do it!!

I tried these coupons tonight at my Walgreens in Central Florida, the cashier did not want to give it to me. He kept saying I could only use one of the two coupons. However, I kept stating that you could stack them but they had to reduce the other to 2.99. Finally he called the manager and she let it go through, she explained it to him.

Grace and Vanessa,

I’ve been taking the new coupon policy with me and showing it to them. Once they see it I haven’t had any issues. Actually I bought 6 Nivea’s today and they took 6 $3/1 Q’s…. even though the computer beeped on the last one. The girl manually inputed a MQ.

I’ve been having trouble using coupons from the book stacked with manufacturer coupons because the coupons in the book state that they are manufacturer coupons too.
My store pointed this out to me and I couldn’t argue because you cant use two manufacturer coupons together. How is everyone else doing this?

Tabitha – You can do both and Walgreens even advertises it as such. You can look at my post HERE for a recent example. I post these often when I come across them.

The Glade coupon wasn’t coded correctly at my store either. I’m betting it’s widespread. 🙁 They tried many different ways to get it to come off, and eventually just ended up price adjusting my candles.

I just returned from Walgreens – the cash register wouldn’t accept both coupons for the Bufferin or the Ricola cough drops. She voided it and tried a different way – still the same. She told me it was because they came out “free” – I showed her the ad for the Ricola which says coupon in store and coupon in Sunday Paper. I also had an $8 item to off set the 1c overage. She said she couldn’t adjust the price. In her frustration, she finally put it through. This is why I prefer dealing with CVS where I don’t have this hassle.

None of the monthly glade deals were ringing up at the store I work at either! They were actually our suggestive sell and they weren’t working at all! Finally the fixed it last week – not sure if corporate changed it or just my store. Good luck!

Nothing to do with the bufferin but, at my store i found 55cent peelies on the dr pepper that were priced at $1 making them only 45 cents! I hope ya’ll find these!

I had a stock up RR ($5 off $25 purchase) and i tried to buy 3 bufferin, mucinex and 1 nivea, long with the simply juice for .30 after walgreens coupon and man coupon. WELL they too would not accept a manufacter and a walgreens coupon on one item! Completely through off my whole transaction. Needless to say, my RR expires tomorrow. OH and they kept one of my $3 RR, so technically i LOST money buy going to wags. Tried to call and let the manager know and it wouldnt connect me cause the store was closed.. SO FRUSTRATED!

**Has anyone used the 5 off 25 stock up? I got it by using a 3 off 15 purchase i found at the pharmacy counter. Does it spit anything out after you use the $25 off $5 RR?

Tried this at three different Wags stores…. showed them ALL the policy, still all three refused to adjust the coupon down. So I left without the bufferin and the Nivea. I guess the policy isn’t clear enough? One manager even called her boss and they refused too.

I just returned from Walgreens while trying to purchase the Bufferin using both the Booklet and the insert coupons. I questioned her and she showed me on the booklet coupon where it states “manufacturer’s coupon”. Have they changed the wording on these to keep us from stacking?

Christie October 19, 2010 at 2:38 pm

Kay – They’ve said that for months… You can still stack them. Walgreens even advertises it as such. Read my post HERE for my an example (there are many that I’ve posted over the past few months.)

Christie–I will have to try again. I wasn’t at one of my regular stores with the friendly cashiers. I will know in the future not to visit the downtown Nashville store with this kind of deal! Thanks!

I bought the Bufferin and a 30 cent Halloween plastic up tonight. It went through ok thankfully but my cashiers there are so nice so she may have pushed it through and I didn’t see it.

Yikes! I had a manager ring me up……bad bad day at Wags! He wouldn’t let me use 2 coupons on BOGO, he wouldn’t adjust my Airwick “Free Warmer with Refill purchase” from $1.50 to $.99,and he said the Bufferins were 2 MQ’s!!!! Well, I marched to the car to get the policy, (he said, “I don’t know what you want to show me, but sure…He thought I was making up the policy!) and when I got back, he and the OTHER manager were waiting for me. I showed the BOGO line, where it clearly states I can use 2 coupons, and one of them still tried to say no, while the other one said, “She’s right!!” Then, I showed where they are supposed to adjust the coupon amount to reflect the actual value, and again, neither MANAGER knew that it could be done!! Finally, I said if this Bufferin coupon from the October booklet is not a Wags coupon, can I go to CVS and use it???? But, they wouldn’t budge on that issue. I will have to get it in
writing somehow, because that is just crazy. It has a giant W on it!!! But, they said only ad coupons are considered Wags coupons. On the flip side, CVS was so simple, it is liek they actually WANT me to shop there!! Go figure!!

OH! And free coffeemate??? Yeah right? I had 2 $1.50 off and 2 $.75 off, and tried to buy 4. He only let me use 2 coupons…. Even though the total of all 4 Q’s weren’t more than the value of the 4 bottles.

I went to Wags yesterday and the Bufferin rang up 8.99. We looked through the ad and could not find it. Where are you located that it is in your ad?

Thank you for all you do! 🙂

Christie October 22, 2010 at 1:46 pm

It’s not in the ad. That’s the price in my area. Your area is really expensive, woah!

When the rebate place sees the receipt showing $3 Wags Q for Bufferin and $3 mfg. Q for Bufferin, I wonder if they will process rebate for $2.99?? Get a rebate receipt and get $5.99 rebate????
