I used a $1.50 off two Johnson Red Cross coupon I had on Red Cross wound closures (which are what are used when you have to close a cut vs. stitches) which I though were could to have on hand. There were 2.99 at my store. In the Walgreens book there is $1.00 off Red Cross wound care, etc. So this coupon stack was a good deal, however, the register had a hard time with the match up. I just said…I can’t help that it doesn’t ring, and they tried to convince me that my Red Cross product wasn’t included…crazy…the coupon says any wound care, etc. They gave it to me after I just stared, like “not my issue…the register’s issue”. I had another wound product to get the free medical bag. So if you have the red cross coupons, be sure to match them with the Walgreens booklet coupons. But thanks Christie for the Hydrogen Peroxide idea. Love having all these medical kits for every location.

I work at wags and we discovered the cheaper the product the more of a chance of a 5/20 the more expensive better a chance of 2/10. We purchased carmels and they kept printing with each one.

Woo hoo! I got this coupon today and I’ll probably stock up on toilet paper! I would buy:
6 Charmin $3.49ea for a total of $20.94
Use $5/$20
Use (6) .25 off charmin
Oop: $14.44 but get 5,000 points
Total: $9.44 ( it’s like paying $.26 per double roll)

Tree, your scenario would work IF Charmin wasn’t a P&G product. The register is going to beep after 4th coupon. You may have to add a couple Bounty paper towels to the transaction.

Oh boo!! That’s right! You know what I just checked too and i only have 4 inserts from that sunday! I think I might just get the extra 2 toilet paper anyway and pay the extra $.50! Thanks MeliB!! Good lookin’ out!

That is exactly what I would do…….minus .50 to use $5.00/$20.00. Can NEVER have too much bath tissue.

I’m going to use the one i got yesterday for the charmin deal as well! Hopefully this late in the week, they still have that many left.

The $5/20s print for smaller transactions, seems to be those under $10; the $2/10s print for larger transactions, such as those over $10. But I really haven’t pinpointed the exact cut off point where it goes from 5/20 to 2/10!
These are printing today, Friday, also.

yes they are printing today too. just got back from wags few minutes ago. $2/$10 printed for me.

Cris July 12, 2013 at 12:05 pm

you have to spend $20 after wags coupons, right?

Ok the coupon states that the total must be $20 before walgreens coupons and discounts. My cashier refused my coupon and said that i couldn’t use it because my other coupons brought it below the $20. The wording to me sounds like it should only apply to walgreens coupons and if they have like say 25% off a item. “discounts” does not apply to coupons because they are different right? i was confused and i asked for a manager but she was busy with delivery so they told me i have to wait. I’m wondering if I’m owed my $5 or not. any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Last time I had the same problem. The cashier said that I had to use the $5 off of $20 Q after all my other Qs. I argued with her until she said she’d do it “this time” and that “if other Walgreens are doing this, they are wrong.” I hope she’s wrong.

She is wrong. It’s after walgreens coupons and discounts meaning store coupons, monthly coupons, weekly coupons, etc. if you have manufacturer coupons it’s a form of “payment” so those can be used after the 5/20 coupon.

i picked up 6 charmin, came to $22 something with tax. I used the $5 off $20 coupon and only had 2 of the charmin coupins bringing my total to $16 something. It didn’t generate the 5,000 reward points. So the $5 off coupon negates the $20 purchase for the reward points? Or was I just not credited correctly?

Since the $5 off $20 coupon is a walgreens coupon that means you didn’t get to $20. I don’t like using them on a specific amount purchase to earn something because it always gets confusing.

They are also annoying if you use a BOGO coupon because it decreases the benefit of your coupon. i.e. I used a BOGO on Dr. Pepper which is .88, but the the BOGO coupon only gave me .77. I’m told that the $5 coupon is calculated first and it takes a little off the price of each item.

Thanks Lauren. If i would buy 2 more packs now, would that generate the 5,000 bonus points or does the card not keep track of purchases towards points like CVS does towards ECB? I just want to know for future reference, walgreens does get confusing to me.
