Updates From the Field 4/10

by Christie Bisbee on April 10, 2011

Here are some updates from my trip today! I found plenty of Carefree, Biore and Luster White in stock and all those deals went as planned.  Here are  few other things I noticed…

COKE DEAL
I am VERY happy to report that the coke deal worked for me! I was able to grab (3) Coke Zero 12pks, and the skinny cans of diet coke for $5! Although my stores are good about not taking the booklet coupons they did want the coke coupons, so I was very sad to have used my last one but happy to get such a great deal!

BUY
3 – Coke Zero 12pks 3/$13
1 – 8 pack Mini Coca-Cola Products 7.5 oz. ea. $3.99 (FREE WYB above)
Total = $13
-$2/1 Coca-Cola 8-pk, 75 oz. mini cans (2054) x5/21 Walgreens Catalina Coupon
-$2/1 Coca-Cola Zero 12 pk (2057) x5/21 Walgreens Catalina Coupon (Takes off $6)

= $5 FOR (3) COKE ZERO & (1) MINI CANS

GATORADE DEAL
Some of you have let me know that you received a Catalina when you bought the Gatorade inviting you to participate in a survey. If you get this and participate the survey pays $5! So not only do you get FREE Gatorade and a FREE workout video, you can get paid $5 to buy it! The offer expires 4-17-11, and you must be 18 or older. There is a limit to one survey per household. So be sure to check your Catalinas if you buy this!  (Thanks Lynn & Lisa!)

NESCAFE STICK PACKS
Ok – these have disappeared from all of my stores. Just empty spaces where they used to be! The RR is scheduled to run through 4/17 so if you find these let us know if you are still getting the Register Reward! I would try it for you but they are totally gone. 🙁

BIC DEAL
The least expensive razors I could find at my store today were priced at $3.99, they were just $3.79 a couple of weeks ago, so just goes to show the price of everything seems to be going up. If you find these at $3.99 you can still grab them for $.99 each. These have 12 in a pack.

BUY
2 – Bic Disposable Razors Sensitive B1G1 50% OFF $3.99
Total = $5.98
(2) -$2/1 Bic Disposable Shaver, excludes trial size – 03-27-11 SS x5/8
= $.99 EACH!

Find any great deals today? Let us know how your shop went!

Hi,
I got 6 packs of Carefree, 2 Gatorade Primes, 2 Gatorade Performs, 2 Gatorade Recovers, 7 Pencils, 1 of the Sensitive Luster White 7 Toothpastes and a 10 day pack of Crest Whitestrips for right around $7, a great deal considering the value of the items is 50+ and whitestrips are usually $30 all by themselves.

How did you get the whte strips so cheap? I’ve only figured out $20 in coupons to stack.

Christi, I again just want to thank you so much for all you do. I find you to be one of the most reliable and warm hearted persons (sorry about the english there) that I have found since I started couponing in late January. My friend and I have both talked about how this is the site to go to to get it right. Thank you Thank you!!

I couldn’t get the $14.49 Huggies by combining the April Coupon book, Infant Care book & $3.50 MQ. So I ended up pay paying $16.49 for them…

*BUT* anybody getting in on them should keep an eye out for specially marked boxes. Mine had a coupon book with over $30 worth of MQ coupons in it — Not just baby items either: feminine products, cleaning supplies, bunches of good stuff =)

————————–

Additionally, the cashier did accept BOTH the Biore BOGO coupon as well as the $2 off printable they had on their FB page – making them $3.99 for both, free with $5 RR.

—————————

The Nexcare bandaids that were on Try Me Free rebate a month or two ago were on clearance at my store for 87cents & still had their Try Me Free rebate tags stuck to them. So I got one of each of the varieties & got it all packaged up to send out tomorrow.

I got the coupon book from the Huggies box. Do those count as manufacturer coupons or walgreens coupons? I want to know if I can match those up with a manufacturer.
Thanks!
Jessica

The Infant Care Book coupons didn’t work on the “bonus” boxes a couple weeks ago. Different UPC… Bummer, but should work on the regular boxes.

Did the coffee deal today and it worked 🙂 I did one transaction of 4 packs with 4-$1 coupons and one transaction with 3 packs and used the $1.50 cat coupon and rewards printed for both accordingly. Love it!

Good to know about the Coke Zero Deal. It happens that I have Manufacture coupon to combine with this deal :D. Last time I did this deal the catalina is all manufacture coupon. Plus I have store coupon already. So if everythings gonna go smoothly I’m only gonna pay $1 for all the above 😀 …I’m hoping…. Thanks for the info!!!!

I would love to know what your $1.00 scenario is, is you dont mind sharing 🙂

I purchased the two Pampers, using the $1.50 manu and the $2.00 infant care coupons. The RR did not print. Instead, I got a coupon for $2 off my next Pampers purchase. The manager had to scan the Pampers without the coupons. Then the $3 RR printed as well as the $2 off the next Pampers. Strange. Did this happen to anyone else?

Reply

Danielle April 10, 2011 at 8:01 pm

Lisa,

I didn’t have that happen with the Pampers (because I didn’t buy those this week – I went with the Huggies). But the same thing did happen to me when I bought the Walgreen’s brand for $3.99 (on sale $5.99 with $2 Infant Care coupon) & my rebate didn’t print.

Seems sometimes the Catalinas work with coupons, other times it doesn’t.

CarrieD April 10, 2011 at 8:32 pm

I did a few trans of the pampers deal this morning. The first one did not print the RR. The other 4 did without issue. The mgr did give me the RR for the first trans. We had no idea why it did not print the first time but it did the others???

Jessica April 10, 2011 at 9:33 pm

The same thing happened to me for the Pampers. Just $2 off my next Pampers purchase. But I realized afterwards that I had used 2 of the $3 off manufacturers coupons (for the box) instead of 2 of the 1.50 off (my daughter is 4 months old and was getting hungry so I was kinda rushed). THey didn’t beep, and I ended up getting the Pampers for $4 a pack so I wasn’t too bummed about the missed RR.

I have tried to find the snickers easter eggs for the last 3 weeks, and none of the 3 stores in my area ever have them, they always tell me to come back after delivery. Today I was told by one employee that she doesn’t think they have ever even had them 🙁 Bummer I wanted to get several to add to an Easter pinata for my children and their cousins.

Reply

Christie April 10, 2011 at 7:49 pm

An Easter pinata! What a fun idea! 🙂

Reply

Karen C. April 10, 2011 at 11:56 pm

My local wags moved all of the Snickers eggs to a rack underneath the checkout area instead of by the Easter stuff. Kinda hard to find there, I had to ask.

Got my nescafe RR today. They are getting harder to find! Also, the revlon cosmetics/beauty tools were not B1G1 free. they were B1G1 50% off instead.

Lynn April 10, 2011 at 8:44 pm

I got the bic 3 comfort razors free…they were 3.99 so 5.98 for 2 and then used a 3/1 coupon from 4/10 which made them free…except tax

Thank you so much for all that you share with us. I need to get that Diet coke deal now.

I picked up 10 cans of Diamond Almonds today- $3.49 each- get one free.
BO Get One free – plus the cans themselves in my store had coupons on them for .60 off every two.

It worked out to $14.45 for 10 cans $1.44 per can- maybe a bit high for the seasoned couponers but I was tickled. Still new at this 🙂

I bought the three Gatorade products and got the MIR and also THREE of those $5 surveys printed. The weird thing is they say “one per household.” I’m confused as to why I got three of them from the same transaction then!! 🙂

Reply

Lynn in MD April 10, 2011 at 10:59 pm

I think each G series Fit product purchase triggered one to print… so buying 3 caused 3 to print. I wish it was a max of 3 per household, wouldn’t that be nice. But still, this is an excellent deal… a money maker plus free Gatorade and a free fitness video (I got the abs video).

Rosy April 10, 2011 at 9:19 pm

Could someone share the exact gatorage deal? Also, there were no Luster toothpastes left and the manager gave me a rain check. He told me that I would receive the sale price but not the RR. He said they have no way to print that after the sale is done. Is this true??? Thank you

Reply

Parker April 10, 2011 at 9:46 pm

That’s true, but the Luster is a month long RR so if you use your raincheck next week it should still print out the RR.

My local walgreens writes the Register Reward on the raincheck and takes it off of our total manually if it’s not printing anymore.

so found some nescafe and yes it worked with rr printing out and i got another coupon for $1.50 off 3.

Reply

Kiapita April 10, 2011 at 10:35 pm

I was wondering if using the Nescafe $1.50 coupon would prevent the RR from printing out. Anyone try this?

Reply

rochelle April 10, 2011 at 10:42 pm

Yes, it printed when I used the $1.50 coupon.

Reply

Christie April 10, 2011 at 11:05 pm

It will still print – although my stores are now out, I did that at least 2x last week! 🙂

Reply

Kiapita April 11, 2011 at 12:55 am

Yes, I’ve only found one store so far out of 4 I’ve visited that had it!

Reply

Kiapita April 11, 2011 at 5:29 pm

Only three left at each of two stores today; a third store’s manager said he’ll have more in on Wednesday and apologized for the outage – no one from HQ had warned him!

Yes, those three Walgreens are all in walking distance of each other and were en route while I did other things today. I’m lucky!

Interestingly, one store took the $1.50 coupon and a $1 RR on three; it would’n’t work at the other store unless I threw in a changemaker. I got the Russell Stover’s egg – still came out ahead.

Kiapita April 10, 2011 at 10:34 pm

I was delighted to get 6 oz cans of Blue Diamond almonds in a Walgreens BOGO and with a 60-cents-off-two coupon from last week’s SS. It ended up being $2.89 for 12 oz – a pretty good price for almonds.

Has anyone tryed buying the little bag a lifesaver jelly beans with the in ad coupon for 39cents and using the coupon for $1 off 2 lifesaver easter products in the april coupon book, and the starburst egg is on sale for 4 for $3 and using that same coupon for $1 off 2?

Reply

Sharelle April 10, 2011 at 11:11 pm

The coupon I have is only good for the 13oz+ sizes, so not a match.

Reply

Guest April 10, 2011 at 11:53 pm

The starburst egg one should work because I put up a sales tag today that said 4/$3 and it even said on top that there is a $1 off 2 coupon!! So 4 for $1 plus you could use the $1 off 2 mars coupon right?

Reply

Christie April 11, 2011 at 12:59 am

Starburst is made by Wrigley’s which is owned by Mars. But Starburst isn’t listed on the Mars coupons and not technically Mars, so I think that’s a no on the Mars but it would still be an awesome deal!

Christie,

I can confirm that the Taster’s Choice $4 RR was still printing out as of yesterday afternoon.(Sunday)

Since I first read about it on your website more than a week ago, I have purchased a total 76 boxes of the 7-stick Taster’s Choice coffee. In 19 transactions, I received 19 $4 RRs.($ Unfortunately, this also means that all three Walgreens stores within 20 miles are completely out of this coffee. 🙁

I paid $4 plus tax for the first box. That printed out a $4 RR and a $1.50 MQ. On Boxes 2 to 19, I paid only $2.50 cash each.(by using the $1.50 MQ that printed out in each preceeding transaction)

Total OOP cash was about $50 for the 76 boxes. The 19 $4 RRs that I have in my hand comes to $76.

On top of that, i will not personally pay anything, since the $50 was paid for with company money. (coffee is for the office) So I actually made $76 in RRs. All it took was three trips to the three Walgreens stores.

Thanks very much to you, since I would never have known about this unadvertised special without reading about it on your website in the first place. 🙂

The manager at one Walgreens even offered to cal me if more comes in next week, but I politely declined. (because the $4 RR offer probably ends next week?)

My only problem now is figuring out how to spend the $76 RRs within the next 10 days. 🙂

TimSpencer

P.S. 76 boxes contains only 532 sticks of coffee… sounds like a lot, but I estimate that it will run out within 2 weeks at my office. 🙁

Reply

Kiapita April 11, 2011 at 12:57 am

Well, you could buy lots of LusterWhite and Carefree at the end of the week to recycle any RRs you haven’t spent by then … 🙂

Reply

TimSpencer April 11, 2011 at 1:15 am

I actually bout a couple of Luster White 7 toothpaste during the last deal.($5.99 – $1.50MQ, get back $4RR)

Unfortunately, I personally didn’lt like the way it tasted…also, this toothpaste was very hard to squeeze out. (their directions even said so) 🙂

On top of that, I have nearly a year’s supply of Colgate Pro Clinical toothpastes. It was $1.29 on clearance at Walgreens and I used the Cogate $1.00 MQ, making it only 29 cents. I bought all of their remaining stock, using 22 coupons. 🙂

Kiapita April 11, 2011 at 5:25 pm

Can you use RR for prescriptions? (New to this.)

Reply

Lily April 11, 2011 at 1:02 am

I’m stunned, lol. Bloody hell…well, you can use the $76 RR buying paper products (paper towels, toilet paper) or other things that are useful/hard to get cheap. Plates? Cleaning things (for the office cleaning service)? Etc.?

Sounds nice lmao.

I’m sure glad I don’t live in your city. I prefer there to actually be sale items left on the shelves when I shop. I feel bad for the other couponers…

Reply

Missy R April 11, 2011 at 11:10 am

I know, I started looking at about six different Wags stores the day this coffee RR started, and from that day to this, there hasn’t been a single box on the shelves in any of them.

Reply

TimSpencer April 11, 2011 at 3:10 pm

I’m sorry if my Taster’s Choice purchases caused others to miss out on the deal. Next time I promise to leave at least enough so the next person can get in on the deal as well. 🙁

Lynn April 11, 2011 at 6:20 am

Walgreens also sells printer ink…so you could get something useful…

Reply

Maria April 11, 2011 at 9:36 am

I was going to say the same thing. Does your office need printer cartridges? You’d have to have some fillers, but taffy is always good for that or candy. Offices need candy. =)

Just wanted to check – The Coke Catalinas are no longer printing, right? I don’t know how I missed that deal last month. We drink Diet Coke/Zero like water here. (We drink water too though!)

tryed the starburst eggs today, and they worked fine (25cents each) Tryed the little bag of lifesavers jelly beans and they did not work.

The coke deal FAILED for me today. 🙁
I bought the 3 12 packs of Coke Zero and the mini pack of Coke Zero. Gave the codes for the 2 Wags Qs (those worked fine) and also 2 $1 MQs for coke ($1/2 12 packs & $1 off on the mini pack). Manager denied the $1 MQ on the mini pack (fine, I took it back). Anyway, my total at the end seemed too high. When I looked at my receipt, I noticed that the mini pack never deducted (only the $2 off… but not the FREE value). When I pointed it out to the manager who checked me out, she said it was because I didn’t pay $13 for the Coke 12 packs. I said it doesn’t say anywhere on the ad that you have to pay the full $13, it just says WYB 3 12 packs. She stood her ground and I was running late anyway, so I said just refund me what I paid for the mini pack (after my $2 off WQ) and she kept the mini pack and I walked away.

So twice now this week I’ve gone to Walgreens, bought 3 12 packs of Coke Zero and still have not got my free mini pack of cans!!! RRrgghhh (1st time there was no signage up about the free cans and I didn’t see it in the ad).
