Walgreens Says Stack Coupons!

by Christie Bisbee on April 5, 2011

For those of you who continue to have issues stacking a MQ with a coupon from the Monthly coupon books, I want to just point out this portion of this weeks weekly Walgreens ad. Notice anything?

Right in the ad they are showing you the “Instant Value Coupon” which is a coupon from the April Monthly Coupon Book AND they are telling you that there are additional coupon savings in most Sunday papers. Clearly encouraging you to use both!

You can find more ads like these by clicking on “Walgreens Ads” under Categories along the right column of my site. I suggest keeping these in your coupon binder, just in case!

I do not have issues but I know this will help all those out there that do!

The last three weeks I have had all kinds of trouble at Walgreen’s with coupons, including the Register Rewards not scanning. Last week they pushed everything through, but today I ran into a new problem: multiple items scanning but the computer only registering them as one item! I bought 8 items and had 8 coupons, but the computer said I only had 6 items. The cashier said it was because it was reading the two packs of M&M’s as one item, and the BOGO Nature Made Vitamins as one item. That’s nuts! But the only way we could get it to work was to add 2 of the .39 Cadbury Creme Eggs. Walgreen’s is becoming more trouble than it’s worth!

Bethany – did you have any coupons that were $ off of (2) or $ off of (3)?

I haven’t had trouble but I have noticed that on my receipts the wags coupons from the April booklet show up as mfgc not wagc. But I was able to use the mfgc for the same item.

I had one coupon that was $2/2 (M & M’s).

Ok – That coupon attached to (2) items. So you would have been one item short to use what you wanted to use. Hope that helps explain what happened.

Christie, is this something new that is happening? Because I don’t remember it ever happening before!
Thank you so much for your help! If I can at least understand what is happening, it will help in trying to plan for these shops! It’s very frustrating to be in store and have your whole scenarios go out the window because coupons aren’t reading right, and to have to keep adding more items in order to use them. If there is some method to the madness these new scanners are creating, I would be very happy to know about it! lol

Oh, and by the way, I was 2 items short, and I don’t know how to explain the other shortage.

Thanks for pointing this out, I will definitely keep it with me when I go to wags now.

I had a problem today with a manager saying I could not use both the monthly coupons and a mfgc on the same item. He said it has been the policy since last April. He also said that the items in the monthly book are mfgc, but can only be used at Walgreens. What?? That sounds like a store coupon to me! What he didn’t know is that the monthly book coupon and the mfgc I had already went through, so it’s obvious they are not telling us the truth? BTW the reason he was called up was because another coupon I had for razors was not scanning, but it eventually did.

Yea, I’ve noticed they’ve been showing these in ads for a while now. I’m happy they encourage the coupons 🙂

I was not able to use my register reward coupon yesterday even though I bought a filler. The only conclusion I could come to was that the Nasalcrom coupon from the April book counted as a mfg coupon the same way a register reward counts as a mfg coupon. I was, however, able to stack a Nasalcrom mfg coupon with it. Am I correct in assuming that when I use an Instant Value coupon from Walgreens monthly book that I must add a filler item for that coupon?

I just had miserable experience at my Wags! The cashier said that the April coupon book coupon was a manufacture coupon and wouldn’t let me “double dip” with an actual coupon from Sunday’s paper! I’ve done it MANY times with no problems but apparently they had a huge ordeal at my Wags last night and she got in trouble for accepting an April coupon with a manufact. coupon. I was NOT happy and what was worse was how RUDE she was. Needless to say, I am calling corporate about this!
