Walgreens Advertises Stack Coupons!

by Christie Bisbee on January 26, 2011

Did you get this ad in your Smart Source insert this past week? If you did, you’ll want to keep this one in your coupon binder!

Walgreens is advertising all the great deals you can get from the “Playbook” which is just one 1/2 of the January Coupon Book. One of the deals they feature is the Kraft Salad dressing. They spell out the deal for you. Buy the dressing at sale price, use a Manufacturer coupon FIRST, then use the coupon from the Walgreens Monthly Coupon Book.

For those of you who have problems stacking the coupons in the Monthly Book with a Manufacturer coupon, I suggest you keep this handy!  I have shared various examples of this in the past.  I created a category called “Walgreens Ads” where you can refer to these easily in my sidebar.  Thanks Walgreens for constantly putting this in print. 🙂

This post is 1 day too late for me! Last night I argued (for a minute) with a cashier over using 3 MFR coupons and the Wags coupon. I decided 33c per bag wasn’t worth the argument, although I may return and re-buy today.

I’ve been buying chex which is $3.99/3, with $.99 off with Wags c/o and then using 3 $1/1 coupons from the Safeway Coupon book. I uploaded a picture of the Safeway book and chex coupon (blocked out the barcode) to my gmail account if you’d like to see it. Final price: FREE! (Or 33c each if your cashier doesn’t know coupons, LOL.)
On my second trans I only bought 2 chex and the Wags coupon scanned for $.66 (and my 2 MFR coupons worked – hah!)

Now, let’s see if the employees or even the managers are going to follow through or making up more stuff to deny it… 🙂

Off topic, but some people are saying that the maalox RR is rolling ? It says that on heartwags. Does anyone know if this is true ?

I also used this to point out the order in which the ad list. I had the $1.00 off Kraft that came out a while back and they tried to scan the playbook coupon first and I said please scan that last. They said they were told to always scan it first as it actually favors Walgreens. I said that is funny they didn’t list it that way in the ad. So they did it my way. 🙂

I haven’t used many Walgreens monthly book coupons with a manuf. coupon…how does it ring up differently using one order of coupons vs. another? In the example here, if the playbook coupon was before the manuf coupon, would the price paid have been different than the 2 for $3 shown?
Does the same thing happen when you use the coupons in their weekly insert that you get a certain a price that week only if you show the flyer?

The Italian dressings at all of Wags I have been to this week have been either past usage date, or just weeks away. I got a rain check, but it doesn’t do any good because the Jan coupon expires on 1/29. If you don’t want the hassle at Wags, wait till the 4 day sale at Von/Safeway Family of stores starting 1/28. Kraft dressing $1.50, so with the coupon from the 1/23 SS, it’s $1. Plus, they should have alot more fresh inventory.

@Jill if the IVC coupon is scanned first it usually won’t take a manufacturer coupon… And it is true that we are taught to scan Walgreen’s coupons first but it definitely does not matter one bit. I always scan it the way it would make most sense.. (i.e. a manf before an ivc)

My KC star insert was advertising Miracle whip for $2.49 – $0.50 = $1.99 which I knew was wrong and I argued with the mang. about false advertisement and still was told I had to pay $2.49 for miracle whip which I didn’t.

So, it doesn’t change the price, but if they do the Wags q first and the manu q then beeps, you might get a cashier who won’t push through the manu coupons to make them work?
I bought a lot of Chex mx with the wags q and then the $1off each one from the safeway book and I’m pretty sure I got them all for free except maybe .66 cents for two of hte bags (I would have noticed that much not coming off since I bought 5!) Although there was a lot of beeping from the register and keying from the cashier.. She did not look happy but I just kept smiling and tried to look oblivious!
I did find out after I got home that the Got2be RR did not print 🙁

@Jill Most cashiers would probably be clueless as to why the manf. coupons wont go through after the IVC coupons! This is usually when they start making stuff up or saying they can’t accept them simply because they get confused! lol…

I have a ? about the BOGO colgate total toothpaste. Can I use (2)$1 MQ’s that are from the diabetes & you magazine (from 2 different mags)? That would mean $4 off since the Q’s ring up $2 a piece? Just want to make sure before I make a fool out of myself

Thanks!

Sorry… I posted this earlier and no response. I want to go get the toothpaste in the morning and wanted to make sure first.

Robin, yeah you can! But use (2) $1 off mq’s, and then 1 of the 1 off Wags q, which would take of 2 dollars. Then, you would have $4 off!! 🙂

Thanks Janie! I have 3 different types of colgate q’s. I have some from the sunday paper and 2 different types from the diabetes & you. The sunday ones of course are mq’s and the ones that I heard ring up $2 say they are mq’s but have redeemable at wags and the last ones say mq(does not start w/a 5) good only at wags. So do I use the 2 from the sunday paper and then 1 of the $1 that takes off $2? Sorry, trying to understand 🙂
