Don’t forget (if it’s still up anyway) there’s a $3/1 MQ for the Renew

It’s not there anymore so that’s why I didn’t include it. πŸ™ But yes, if you already printed it don’t forget! πŸ™‚

Im a bit confused about the Register Rewards. I thought the coupon policy states that you cannot get register rewards if you are paying with register rewards. Is that correct or am I misreading it?

Reply

Christie February 26, 2012 at 12:40 am

Only if it’s the same deal. So you can use a RR from a purchase of item A to buy item B that gives a RR, and you’ll still get your RR.

However if you use a RR from item A to buy another item A you won’t get a second Register Reward for the same item. Does that help?

Ki Ki February 26, 2012 at 9:56 am

Yes,Thanks! I have actually been passing up alot of deals because I misread the policy.

Thanks so much Christie! You do such an awesome job every week (well actually everyday!).

I went to see if I could get the Precise with my one coupon and they were out at the store that is 2 blocks from my house. But I decided to try the Cortaid deal. It was about 5:00 so the sales for next week had clicked in, I think (or maybe it is a longer sale). But the Cortaid is ringing up BOGO and the prices are lower than are marked on the shelves. I got 4 packages. 2 were priced at $3.99 and 2 were prices at $4.99. I was going to use 3 $3/1 coupon and had the hardest time with the 20 something manager. He just didn’t want to do it. I had the coupon policy and showed him about reducing the coupons down part.

He said, “I know the coupon policy!”. Then he was having a really hard time with the BOGO saying you couldn’t use a coupon on a free item and I showed him the coupon policy for that. He was not happy at all. I told him he was getting reimbursed for the coupons, so I didn’t understand his reluctance. I was super nice and not confrontational at all. But was feeling like I stole them from the store.

I just want to avoid that store from now on. There are other stores close to me that love coupons!

I really should write him a letter.

Same thing happened to me @ a walgreens store I recently went to. I tell my husband that dealing with people like that makes me want to stop using coupons.

Reply

Susan February 25, 2012 at 10:37 pm

I know. It just makes you feel like you did something wrong. And you didn’t. But don’t give up on coupons. Many places are happy to take them.

Reply

Pam February 25, 2012 at 11:13 pm

Susan, I did the exact same deal tonight with the same prices. They took all 4 coupons, no questions asked. But, I noticed Cortaid coupons always beep! Even the first one!

Reply

Susan February 26, 2012 at 12:04 am

Pam ~ good for you!!! You have a great store. I do too, it is just not as close to me. But I will be going there in the morning!

Reply

VB February 26, 2012 at 12:39 am

I hate cpn nazis. Instead of avoiding the store i think it would be great if you have at least 2 couponing friends go to the store’s with you and intentionally go to that cashiers register with coupon policies in hand. Its not fair that i have to know how to do my job correctly and i am proactive in making sure i do it right and some of these cashiers get away with the rudness and ineptitudeness. I dont understand why coupon training is not seen as an issue to corporate with all the complaints i here are being made to corporate on the blogs.

aria February 26, 2012 at 1:32 pm

HA HA VB, that’s too funny. I call them coupon nazis too! Every time I deal with one I come home to tell my husband, “yadayada coupon nazi, yada yada I was right and she/he was wrong AND got it for free.”

Thank you Susan – very sweet of you to say! πŸ™‚

Those Cortaid coupons are just major beepers. They beeped for me earlier this month even though I was buying the right product and it was $3.99 with a $3 coupon.

I was lucky that my cashier was nice and after reading it like 10 times put it in manually.

Reply

Susan February 25, 2012 at 10:04 pm

For others, if you have any of the $3/1 Cortaid Q’s, you can get free Cortaid if you have a good store!!!

Oh, and I didn’t clear the shelf at all. There were lots left after I bought 4.

I just wanted to let you know that all of the trident is on sale for the $0.69. I had some mc coupons for the trident vitality BOGO, and I had the cashier check to see if I could use the in ad coupon on it, it took it off! so I got 2 pk for only 28cents! when he scanned the mc bogo coupon, it took off $1.10! so instead of 0.69 for 2 pks, it was only 0.28! I was so excited I got 4 more packs! I spent $0.84 on 6 pcks of trident vitality! woo hoo!

my walgreens told me if it beeps its not made for there store and they will not get there money back….anyone ever heard that one….

Reply

Marlene February 26, 2012 at 8:58 am

Amy, I was just told the same thing. That if it beeps, they can’t accept it and they would lose out on money. Manager said they wouldn’t get reimbursed for using coupon.

Reply

Christie February 26, 2012 at 11:48 am

That is 100% NOT true. A coupon can beep for a million reasons, especially with those new price scanners.

The only way they are not going to get reimbursed is if you are using a coupon for a product they don’t sell or the coupon is fake. Otherwise if they sell the product and they don’t have more coupons redeemed than products sold then they will get reimbursed.

be careful: the Renew Life Ultimate Flora is ringing up $24.99!! It will still produce the RR, however, even when they price-modify.

Reply

Katie February 26, 2012 at 11:50 am

Renew Life Ultimate Flora is ringing up at $24.99. The manager took a really look time to do a price change even though it was the right product. it still produce the RR for me as well.

Reply

clumsythestral February 26, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Same issue here. Once they proved it was the same product as in the ad, though, they were really good (and fast) about price modifying it and telling the other cashiers about it.

Sarah February 26, 2012 at 1:26 pm

I was just coming on here to mention that it’s ringing up $24.99. I got 2 (one at two diff Wags) and at both stores it rand up $24.99. They did a price modify and the RR printed out fine.

Went at 8 and it was ringing up wrong so my nice manager (the only one at my Walgreens store was there today) and ask if I could just come back and of course I said I would because she wanted the same product and I was going to give her a printed coupon but when I returned at 10 they were ringing up correctly. I live in NC

Is anyone finding the Belvita breakfast biscuits or the Burt’s Bees drops? I went to two stores and they all said they are unable to get them and there is nothing comparable to substitute.

I had that same problem but when I asked about them, they were all in the back. The mgr said that had no room to put them out so they kept them back there

So frustrated this morning. I went to buy the cortaid, I wanted 2 boxes, and the lady at the register when I walked in had a whole cart of them and there were none left on the shelf! I am part ranting and part asking people to please be considerate of others when buying their weekly products.

Reply

Mel February 26, 2012 at 2:40 pm

I actually just got vented to/yelled at by a friend about coupon shelf clearers. There was a sale on Smart Ones and my friend wanted some. The lady in front of her filled her entire cart with them so at least 40-50 (impressed with her freezer size btw!). The lady had cleared out several types and my friend asked if she could have at least one of a flavor and the woman wouldn’t give her even 1 box.

Dealwagger February 26, 2012 at 4:08 pm

Wow! The only time I ever half cleared a shelf was exactly 2 minutes before midnight on the day the sale ended! Can’t imagine being okay with clearing a shelf the first day. Too bad there are people like that giving us all a bad rap. I’m glad we have sites like Christie’s promoting coupon etiquette πŸ™‚

My local store here in W. Central Florida also rang up the Ultimate Flora at $24.99, and I was watching for that (thanks to reading the comments here–thanks for bringing that up) or I’d have missed it. The clerk wasn’t upset but needed the mgr, who kindly got it all corrected. My store mgrs and clerks are always nice about coupons and such, but sometimes they don’t carry certain products advertised for RR. For instance, this week they didn’t carry the Burts bees drops, or the BelVita cookies, nor the Fruit of loom products. Not out of them but dont carry them…yet.

I’m so upset right now with my Walgreens. I went in to my walgreens & wanted to do a mere 4 transactions, there was no one in line & the store had about 4-5 people walking around, & they told me i couldn’t buy things in separate transactions. Meanwhile, in the cosmetics counter another couponer was purchasing things on multiple transactions, she must have done over 10 separate transactions while I was walking around getting my things for my shopping trip. Another thing, I managed to do my first transaction before I was told I couldnt do multiple transactions. My cashier didn’t want to take my flora coupon and claimed it wasn’t scanning. I observed her scanning the wrong code and I told her she was suppose to scan the long barcode, when she scanned the correct barcode it went through. After this transaction, she told me she couldnt ring things up for me separately and she noticed I was taking another flora and she took it out of my basket and said she was not going to allow me to buy more than one, I found this cashier very rude. I told her I didn’t want to take anything and walked out. I’m new to couponing but I already know the wags coupon policy like the back of my hand. As soon as I left the store I called corporate to submit a complaint, the customer service agent read me the coupon policy on register rewards, I told her I was aware of the policy and that I was following the policy. She then told me that behind the register rewards it states it cannot be combined with any other offer, but that she would still put the complain in for me. According to this rep, she said a we couldn’t use register rewards to buy other items that generate register rewards because the policy on the back of the register rewards forbade it. I’m sorry for the ranting but wanted to let you all know that your cashiers might be hesitant to take your flora coupons.

Amy February 26, 2012 at 8:47 pm

Ha I would never buy anything if that was the case with RR.

Reply

Tamala Smith February 27, 2012 at 10:10 am

same here….flora coupon is not working either. Said becaue they use RR from other transacation by accident so give coupon back to me. I saw other lady did more than 3 transacations. No wonder why they did empty the shelf yesterday morning in west plains, mo. I wish there is limit per a day.

Shelly February 26, 2012 at 3:04 pm

The Flora is so frustrating! My wags has the new machines too. Let me tell you, its a huge step back for wags. Everything takes so much longer and they have to call a manager for everything!

Reply

ember February 26, 2012 at 3:22 pm

Shelly! The new machines are actually AMAZING… if you are experiencing longer wait times, i assure you it’s user error. they may be new to the store (or the cashier may be slow adjusting) I (cashier at wags) find them to be far faster and require LESS manager calls. with the exception of some older cashiers that just don’t adapt to new technology every one at my store seems to <3 them. My couponers also love them. It may help for you to not wait til the end of the order to give coupons (like with the old system) but instead WITH each item. with the new system its much less stressful for both of you to do that. (give RR's before last item on order) once an order is totalled it get's tricky to add the coupons as they are considered a tender and will "partial pay" the order and can't be reopened to add more. it's possible to do it though, just not reccomended)

Reply

Dealwagger February 26, 2012 at 4:10 pm

ember, I’m with Shelly here. If there is a mistake on anyone’s part or the scanner double scans a coupon, the only way to void out a manufacturer coupon is to void *the entire* transaction. Last time I was at my local store I spent almost an hour at the checkout on one transaction because of this!

Reply

Mary February 26, 2012 at 4:54 pm

Major ordeal for me today on the Cortaid. They are BOGO and first one rang up $4.99, the second one 0. I had two $3 coupons. They got the new registers last week. The register wouldn’t scan the GS1 barcode, so they were manually entering the coupons anyway, but the person in charge ( I won’t call her a manager, because she isn’t officially one) told the cashier he couldn’t enter the second coupon since the second item rang up 0. I told her their policy was that a coupon was allowed on each item and that the second coupon just needed be decreased to $1.99, but she didn’t want any part of it. Usually I will just take stuff off my order and not get it, but since one of the true assistant managers did this with no problems, no questions with the Got2B, I stood my ground. I took out my cell phone and called the corporate number while she went somewhere and while I was on hold, she phoned the cashier and told him to enter the coupon. I am not sure what she did/who she talked to, but I got my two Cortaids (and I was very polite the entire time.) As far as the In Ad coupon for the Stride gum at 69cents…it doesn’t work on the Stride Spark, mine rang up $1.49 each and the in ad coupon didn’t work on it. I was so frustrated with the Cortaid deal, I didn’t ask to return the gum.
