Walgreens Shopping Scenarios 3/13

by Christie Bisbee on March 12, 2011

Here is my scenario for 3/13. In this scenario you would get $27.43 in merchandise. You’d spend $2.94 out of pocket and end up with $2 in Register Rewards. So you are getting paying $.06 to buy $27 in stuff! Happy Day! 🙂

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THESE TRANSACTIONS
-) Blue are manufacturer coupons, Red are store coupons & don’t count in your total.
-) You can’t have more MQ than items!

I was wondering if since the Right Guard is BOGO at Walgreens and there was a MC coupon for BOGO does that mean that I get both for free.

Reply

Parker March 12, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Alot of stores do not allow it.

Reply

Tami R. March 12, 2011 at 3:54 pm

Jenny, this should be the case because Walgreen’s is going to give you one, and the one you are going to pay for will be paid for by the manufacturer with the coupon. Unfortunately, Walgreen’s has a heck of a time getting this concept. But maybe if you explain how coupons work to the manager, they might not give you a hard time about it. Believe it or not, even some managers don’t understand their own policies. I would just hand it over as normal and see what happens. Good luck!

The stores in my area allow it. If it rings up full price (and then takes off the amount at the end) just give them the coupon before they subtotal or give them the coupon right after they ring it up before the other items in your order.

kroger is printing cats from purchases of reach toothbrushes buy 4 and get a $4 cat…was just wondering if walgreens was also

Isn’t clearasil a freebie? Walgreens website has the cheapest item listed at 4.99. It will be $2 off according to the ad, use a $1 off from Sunday paper, and get 2RR back!

Reply

Christie March 12, 2011 at 8:11 pm

It’s “participating” Clearasil and we won’t know what that means until tomorrow. The more expensive line is pictured not the products that are $4.99.

I’m not going to just assume participating means any and have a bunch of disappointed shoppers tomorrow!

All the wags in my area that I went to are out of stock on the 1.59 reach toothbrushes.. Darn it.

The family dollar in my area carries reach toothbrushes for 1.00

I understand using a filler item because you have to have at least as many items as you have coupons. But I see sometimes you suggest using items that are cheap with an in-ad coupon. So only manufacturer coupons/RRS count? In-ad Qs don’t count towards your “number of coupons”?

Reply

Denise March 12, 2011 at 9:46 pm

In-ad coupons don’t count toward your total, nor do coupons from the IVC coupon booklets.

I believe the RR for the toothbrushes is buy 4 get $4, not 3. I received a register printout last week with the $4. I also bought 4 clearance 45 cent toothbrushes and received the $4 RR. It would be awesome if it is like the fruity pebbles and we get a $4 and $3!

Reply

Beth March 12, 2011 at 11:12 pm

oops! Just saw you already fixed it 🙂 Sorry about that!

From this past week after buying the pediacare, te Catalina printed $1 for $1 off Childrens advil.. Do you know of any special Childrens Advil deals coming up at wags? I do see a $2 off Childrens advil in the infant booklet. Can we combine them since the Catalina printout q was labeled a manufacturer q.

Reply

Christie March 12, 2011 at 11:31 pm

Yes – You should be able to combine them. 🙂

Also, I bought 6 Renuzits, used 1 B3G3 Q and the in-ad Q and paid a subtotal of 8 cents. I did hand the in-ad Q first so I am not sure if that made a difference or not.

Reply

Rachel B March 13, 2011 at 12:31 pm

Yes, Purex worked great for me using the $2 coupon and the $2 RR printed!

Reply

jen March 13, 2011 at 1:21 pm

I know we are talking about WG but I did a deal at Kroger yesterday that I haven’t seen published. Kroger has a $2 off Gillette shave (ecoupon) and their Gillette Shave Gel is $2.25 so that makes it a quarter! Kroger now has a new policy on their site that you can’t combine paper and e-coupons so be careful they are watching the e-coupons come off especially when you hand them a stack of coupons.

Reply

Christina Dwyer March 14, 2011 at 7:30 am

I wondered about that. Sometimes my coupons are better than the ecoupons. I will keep an eye out.
Thanks!

Did anyone else have trouble with the Irish Springs deal? I bought 2 packs of diapers, 2 deodorants and used (2) $1/1 coupons for the deodorant, $2 and 2 RRs from last week (P&G). The RR didn’t print. The manager ended up giving me $4 back in cash which I thought was weird, but I am not sure why it didn’t print in the first place. Any thoughts?

I did the Irish Spring deo. deal today. Bought (2) 3.0 oz. sticks for $6.00. Used (2) $1.00 internet coupons. Paid $4.33 OOP, got $4.00 RR back. No filler needed and no beeps. $.33 net OOP for sales tax.

Does Purex and Reach have the same manufacturer? Just asking because I want to roll transaction 4 into transaction 1. Thanks!

Reply

Lisa P March 13, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Bought RG deodorant and the bodywash. Beware, the bodywash was $4.99 at my store so I did pay $.50 OOP plus tax. Still a GREAT deal! Also stocked up on those Reach toothbrushes – the store I went to had TONS of them. I bought twelve and still left at least twelve in stock 🙂 Irish deodorant worked too with no problems!!

margaret March 13, 2011 at 8:39 pm

Our walgreens has bunches of different reach toothbrushes on clearence for 1.09 so 9 cents after coupon and it prints a 4 off next order at checkout.

Followed the rules to a tea…am and speechless!!!

First purchase:
The 4 tooth brushes with the $1/1 and B1G1 on 2 reach shower stuff (the shampoo style…mind as well get free shampoo out of the deal – and they used the B1G1 so they were free) and paid $3.12 – and then got a $4 RR.

Second purchase:
Two Irish Spring deodorants. I used the $4 and the coupons and the total – $.42 – and then I got ANOTHER $4 RR.

Third purchase:
6 renuzit’s with the B3G3 coupon. With the additional $4 RR I had received, it was free.

So…in short I walked out with:
* 4 tooth brushes (total retail – $6.40)
* 2 Reach Shower gel/shampoo (total retail – $8.98)
* 2 Irish Spring deodorants (total sale – $6.00)
* 6 Renuzit (total retail – $10.74)

Total retail/sale price = $32.12 (plus tax)

and total out of pocket…$0.00

My friend and I did your walgreens deal yesterday. Had a young clerk who had fun with us. On a side note I found Always pads on sale for $2.99 with a $2.00 reward back. I had a .50C off so I paid with tax .68C for a pack of 22 pads. Unreal!! I bought 10 packs. Thanks for all you do!

I did not see the Reach register reward listed in the Sunday ad, I did not buy the toothbrushes becasue they were $2 each, and I didn’t want to waste money if I didn’t get a RR. Can some one tell me where this is in print. My Walgreens is VERY DIFFICULT to work with, so I never think it is worth my effort.
