Is this register reward deal going to be posted in next week’s ad? I’ve had problems getting RR when they didn’t print and weren’t in the ad.

Ha! I wrote this post at about 1:30am. This morning in the shower I was thinking about it and realized, those stinkers are trying to get me to buy (3) when it’s better to buy 2. LOL.

Sabrina April 26, 2011 at 4:43 am

Marie, I’m guessing the register reward only comes out if you buy 3

Reply

Sabrina April 26, 2011 at 4:44 am

Oh wait, never mind, I just saw the RR specifications.

Dana April 26, 2011 at 6:57 am

If I buy 9 twelve packs of TP in one transaction will I get $12 in RR or do I need to break it up into three separate transactions?

Reply

Christie April 26, 2011 at 10:15 am

No – Don’t buy more than 3 in one transaction since you’ll only get 1 RR.

Reply

Stevie Nanstad April 26, 2011 at 7:57 am

So your posting about getting a $4 RR back yet the pic shows a $3 RR?

Reply

Eva April 26, 2011 at 8:20 am

You get a $4RR wyb 3 Cottonelle, and a $3RR wyb 2

Reply

Rebecca R April 26, 2011 at 8:41 am

Stevie, look again at the post. There is a $3 RR when you buy 2 and a $4 RR when you buy 3.

Reply

Christie April 26, 2011 at 10:14 am

You can get either depending on how many you buy.

Does anyone know if the Cottonelle *Ultra* is part of the sale? HEB http://www.heb.com/weekly-ads/show-coupons.jsp has $1 off printables for the 12 k Ultra!

Reply

Pam b April 26, 2011 at 10:19 am

I dont think they are included….they usually have these specially marked $5 right on the package as a special value that are the advertized ones.

Reply

Nicole April 26, 2011 at 11:04 am

How do you get the first coupon in the picture it looks like it is from walgreens register….do we need to buy something specific first?

Reply

Rob April 26, 2011 at 11:57 am

Do u have to use 2 coupons from the booklet to get $2 off? Or will the one coupon automatically take the $2 off?

Reply

Christie April 26, 2011 at 1:13 pm

It will do it automatically.

Hey Vickie! They should! It’s even a good deal with only the coupon from the May book. I haven’t bought toilet paper since that last clearance deal so I’ll be buying some Sunday! 🙂

Last time I tried to do a register reward deal I didn’t get it. They told me if you use coupons it doesn’t print.

hi
i want to know if gillette fusion proglide razor is from the same company as cottonelle coz i wanna use my gillette rr with filler of course to pay for cottonelle.

Reply

Christie April 26, 2011 at 3:55 pm

Nope – Go ahead and use it! 🙂

Reply

nancy April 26, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Is it true that if you use a coupon to purchase the product that the reward will not print? What’s the point if that’s really the case.

Reply

Christie April 26, 2011 at 3:56 pm

No not true – you only have to be careful if your coupon is for the same amount your RR is supposed to be, then it MIGHT be coded the same, otherwise no.

Hi Christy!

I have a question about Register Rewards.

If I buy an item that prints out a $4 RR, but return the
item, does the $4 RR coupon become invalid?

I currently have 11 $4 RRs. I know I returned two of the
itmes because they were defective. The manager didn’t ask
the $4 RRs back and I didn’t even think of it. If those
two $4 RRs are no longer valid, how doe I know which two
they are? (2 out of 11) The all seem to have the same
bar codes, except the little bar code on the top right.

Thanks! 🙂

They should still work. I have taken stuff back that I ended up getting RR for (forgot I got the RR, used them already so that’s different from your deal) and never was asked to return them. The RR’s are manufacturer coupons, so it seems to be fine. Somebody correct me if I am wrong please.

Reply

Guest April 26, 2011 at 10:47 pm

RR are supposed to be refunded once the item is returned.

Reply

TimSpencer April 26, 2011 at 11:30 pm

when you say “refunded” once the item is returned, do you mean the physical RR coupon should have been handed back to the Walgreens cashier/manager? Or the $4 value on the RR automatically get wiped out in the system once the item is returned?

It was the frist time I’ve returned anything to Walgreens in many years.

Reply

Sarah April 26, 2011 at 11:47 pm

I would of kept the item had a remembered I got the RR’s with it. The RR was spent a couple weeks before the item went back, so there was no way for me to return it.

Reply

Sarah April 26, 2011 at 11:47 pm

Whoops! Responded to the wrong post. Sorry!

Reply

Christie April 27, 2011 at 1:11 am

Tim – I wouldn’t be too worried about it. Normally I give them back but there have been times where the item is not working and I used the Register Reward already so, not much to be done about that!

Reply

Kristen April 26, 2011 at 3:59 pm

It should still print. I’ve never had a problem with a rr not printing because I used coupons.

Reply

nancy April 27, 2011 at 2:10 pm

well the first time I tried to get the register reward , I bought the colgate 2 for $6 and used 2 $1 coupons. There was supposed to be RR for $4 but it didn’t print and the manager told me it was because I used coupons. Truthfully I think it was out of paper and she didn’t want to be bothered. So like a dummy I got ripped off.

Suzanne April 26, 2011 at 3:07 pm

Just bought 2..worked great! Thx!

is this deal advertised? because i just went and it didn’t have a sign or anything..

Reply

Christie April 27, 2011 at 1:12 am

Unless your store manager is a Wild For Wags reader, I don’t think you’ll see a sign. 😉

Reply

Frances April 27, 2011 at 8:59 am

Just for the record – if you have a Kroger close to you, their sale is a little better.

At Kroger: 12 double rolls (260 1-ply sheets x 12 = 3120 sheets total) Sale price $5.99 – .50 coupon (doubled) = 4.99. 4.99/3120 = .0016 per sheet

At Walgreens: Deal starting 5/1 12 large rolls (167 1-ply sheets x 12 = 2004 sheets total)
Sales price 5 – .50 coupon – 1 Walgreens booklet coupon = $3.50. $3.50/2004 sheets = .00175 per sheet

With Kroger, you still get the same RR deal $3 when you buy 2; $4 when you buy 3. I bought three Cottonelle last night at Kroger and the RR printed. It is actually a little better to buy two Cottonelle at a time because the RR is greater per package but I have five children and time is at a premium.

ashley s April 28, 2011 at 4:10 pm

This isn’t correct….These coupons say “do not double” on the top

Reply

Tracy April 27, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Wow, thanks for this! I was hoping for some cheap Cottonelle too since I ran out of it. Plus I’m a bit tired of that free cheap stuff from Albertsons, it was like sandpaper, yikes! 🙂

Reply

Ashley S April 27, 2011 at 11:22 pm

Do you think that you can use the $3 and $4 cottonelle rr to pay for each other as long as you mix it up? One time you get 2 packs and get $3 rr and next time you get 3 packs and pay with the $3 rr and get a $4 rr in return? Wasn’t sure if this would work or not since they aren’t the same price?

Crystal April 28, 2011 at 1:11 am

Hello,

I’m new to all this and have a quick question. If I buy 2 packs of cottonelle can I use the $3 rr i get back to buy another two packs with coupons and use the $3rr to go toward my $7 total? Please help! Thnaks

Reply

Christie April 28, 2011 at 9:37 am

You can but then you won’t get another $3. So it’s better to buy the Cottonelle, use the $3 to buy something else that will give you a RR and then use that to buy more Cottonelle. 🙂

Reply

Crystal April 28, 2011 at 1:31 am

Can I use the $3 rr from the first transaction, to go toward my $7 total in my second transaction? I’m new to walgreens shopping, thanks for any help!

Reply

Doug April 28, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Doesn’t Wags have an issue when you have more Qs than items? If I buy two packs with 4 Qs, and nothing else, will I get dinged?

Reply

Annie April 29, 2011 at 12:17 am

I don’t think Walgreens Qs count. So in this case, if you are getting 2 packs… use 2 manufacture coupons and you should be fine. If you decide to use a RR (more manu coupons), then find cheap filler items to balance out the ratio! Hope that makes sense 🙂

Kroger sounds like a better deal!! My store still doubles, even it says do not. Kroger here I come!! Thanks Frances!!

FYI, 2 wks ago had a few issues with using the aquafresh kids toothpaste $1 walg q with $1 mq when it was $1.99, since coupons were $2, one cashier told me it won’t work, but then had to ring in one Walg Q before other, when bought it at another store by itself only cashier said had to charge me $2 for the item instead of $1.99 due to the tax, i wasn’t going to argue with him over a penny since it was basically free. have to watch those cashiers one tried telling me can’t use mq with walg booklet cpns!

Wag manager May 5, 2011 at 12:41 pm

The rules are just as confusing to the cashiers as they are to you, please don’t think they would try to cheat you intentionally.

1. The deal with register rewards is that we are not supposed to change that amount on the front (per the Mfg). Regular manufacturer coupons can be changed if what you are paying is lower thsn the coupon amount.

2. You can not have more manufacturer coupons than items, fillers are needed. However, this does not apply to in-store IVC coupons out of our booklets. Easy way to tell- the IVCs only have a 4 digit barcode.

3. Register Rewards are supposed to be forfeited when you return items that generated them (per the Mfg policy). However, it’s rather impossible to track them all and currently our register receipts do not list them (except stores with the new touch screens). Therefore, depending on the manager/cashier they might know there was a RR and ask for it like they are supposed to.

4. We love coupon shoppers, they help our sales & most of you are very patient. Our registers were not designed for a lot of the issues that come up & Walgreens is a VERY ethical company so we try honor what the manufacturers specify. (otherwise a lot of these deals go away if they don’t trust us to fo the right thing.) We simply ask Couponers not to wipe the shelf out of product. Talk to us, most of the time we will order in advance if you have a lot of coupons.
Thank you,
A 20yr Walgreens Manager
