Hallmark $$$ Holders Money Maker!

by Christie Bisbee on December 12, 2010

UPDATE – I  went back to a different store to see if my Money Cards would beep.  Turns out, some of the Money Holders are ringing up as CARDS others are ringing up as MONEY HOLDERS, that’s why the IVC isn’t working on some of them.

If you want to be sure you get no beeps, the cards that are coded with a UPC starting with 70000 rang up as Money Holders for me. I’ve pictured two of the ones that worked for me with the right UPCs. So you can try those.

I picked up (6) of the Hallmark Money holders that were all priced at $.99.  The in ad coupon that makes them 3/$2 was not programmed at my store. We tried like 20 different cards and the in ad Q wouldn’t work on any of them.  However, this is a brand new store so I it could just be my store.

Since they were obviously the right item they price modified them all to the correct price 3/$2. And sure enough the $5 RR kicked out! So the UPCs for these are programmed to be included.  Hopefully the IVC is programmed at your store so you can avoid the hassle but they should be able to price modify them.  So here’s how this deal works…

Buy
6 – Hallmark Money Holders $.99 each
Use
1 – In ad Q for money holders (makes them 3/$2)
Total = $4, Get Back $5 RR
= $1 Money Maker!

I’m happy to have some FREE money holders that I’ll certainly use.

No, it is not just your store. I bought six and the coupon only took off $0.32 not $1.94 like it should have. The manager manually adjusted the price of each one for me so that they would work out to cost 3 for $2.00. I bought those and a newspaper and the $5 RR printed without a problem.

I had the most difficulty I’ve ever had at a Walgreens today. The register would only accept one of my Super Jingle Cash. I had 3 $5 ones that I was trying to use and the first one rang up fine but then the other two kept saying “coupon has already been used.” The manager had to manually push them through for me. Anyone else have that problem?

Hi, Anuja,

That happen because the Jingle Cash are meant to be redeem 1 per transaction.

Yep, on the Super Jingle Cash it says only 1 per transaction. I will use mine in separate transactions when I go. Thanks for the info on the cards.

What a cluster that Jingle Cash thing has been. I was lucky and was able to get several of the tissue and other jc deals before it all went bad. I went today and luckily I had a super nice cashier who had the patience of a saint because after ringing up my big order we realized that you could only use 1jc per trans. How stupid is that? So we divided it all up into smaller transactions. She was a doll, Props to the Cosmetics Cashier at the Waterford Mi Walgreens. I am sure most cashiers wouldn’t have done that but luckily for me, she’s a couponer too. I think it’s going to be pretty much CVS from here on out. Their deals and ecb’s are just so much less complicated.

Or you could roll all your $5 SJC into $5 Revlon JC. and then you can use as many of those as you want. Don’t forget the 1.00q in the beauty book at the cosmetics counter for the revlon.

Okay, wouldn’t the wags in ad q take off $4 b/c you’re buying 6 cards? making the total $1.97?

Reply

kristi December 12, 2010 at 7:13 pm

Thanks for the info Christie! My manager wouldn’t adjust the price of my cards saying if the in ad q beeped then I didn’t have the right items despite them all being money holders. Gotta make my money back somehow so I will go back and buy several that are like you described to make up for my loss. There was a long line behind me today so I felt pressured just to pay and move one. My Jingle cash atleast printed out. Wags can be so frustrating!

Kim the in ad q is 3 cards for $2 not $2 off of 3. That is why it isn’t 1.97.

Sorry for dumb question… so in order to make this work, we need to buy money holders with UPC 7000XXXX? Or vice versa?

gwen December 12, 2010 at 10:29 pm

thank you so much!!! for posting the UPC # that really helps.

Eggy, it would still work using the other UPC’s if you have a cashier/manager that is willing to adjust down the money holders to .67. If you buy the cards with UPC’s starting with 7, then those go through without any beeps. So less hassle and time at checkout.

Sarah – Ahh, thanks so much! That is very sweet and really made my day! I still haven’t bought any Christmas presents for my family yet, but I know which card holders work with no beeps. LOL 😉

Stephanie – It’s nice when your manager does the right thing! 🙂

At my local Wags in WV, none of the money holders were working. I even bought the ones with the 700000 UPC code. (They only had 2 different ones.) the cashier and manager were both stumped. The manager tried every single style money holder they had, and none worked. But she was nice and adjusted it down. She even apologized for it not working and taking so long. She even made sure my RR printed out. Yay! for my local Wags, and you, too, Christie!

I just got back from my Walgreens. We didn’t have either of the cards pictured so I looked for the upcs. Found some with the 7000 barcode. Not all of them worked but I was able to void the 2 that didn’t work and get 2 of the right ones. Good money maker on them.

“Kim the in ad q is 3 cards for $2 not $2 off of 3. That is why it isn’t 1.97.”

Maria, I know but you’re buying 6 cards, not just 3, that’s why I’m confused on why the coupon wouldn’t take off double.
Can anyone else explain it to me? TIA

Maria December 13, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Kim, with the coupon, each card costs .67.

3 cards = .67 x 3 = $2.

So .67 x 6 = $4.

The coupon isn’t for $2 off of 3 cards it’s saying that the cards are costing you .67 each.

If you bought 6 cards that normally cost .99 each, it would ring up $5.94, then the coupon would take off $1.94.

HTH.

Worked for me today with any UPC. My store only had one with 700000 and I didn’t want those. I said I wanted to try and it worked (didn’t yestrday at a different store nearby but they modified the price).

Thanks Maria…don’t know why that was so confusing to me. I went to the store and it ‘clicked’ 🙂

Boy did my Walgreens make me mad about this tonight. I got 6 of the Hallmark money cards and they were the 7000 code and they told me that I couldn’t use the coupon because it wasn’t the right things. The manager came over and said the same thing but was going to go get the right ones, supposively…but I was already mad about another coupon they wouldn’t let me use, so I just left with all my coupons and bought nothing from them. I told them I would much rather shop at CVS because they don’t give me any hassles, especially about one of their own coupons!

Does anyone know if the .49 kids cards are still working for the hallmark deal this week?

Went to three different Walgreen’s today….the in ad Q didn’t work at any of the stores. Two different locations let me try all different cards and it still didn’t work (even the 7000 coded money cards)….in the end all 3 stores manually adjusted the price and I received my $5 RR. Took a bit of time but toally worth it. Thanks!

Thank you for posting this!! Couldn’t figure out why the coupon wouldn’t work (and neither could the manager), but I knew where to go look to find out.

Will try again……………although right now Wag’s seems to be changing rules mid-stream, so we’ll see.

Thank you for your hard work. Appreciate it!

I too had issues with this money holder deal yesterday. My store only had one card with the 7000 code so I tried purchasing 6 of them and it wouldn’t take the in ad Q. The cashier adjusted them by taking off two and giving them for free but my RR didn’t print. And just looking over my receipts I am a little irritated. I had the in ad Q for the 3M tape of B1G1 free. I missed the second roll in my cart on this transaction and so the in ad Q rang up as .00 and the cashier didn’t bother to let me know. So I got charged the 3.49 for the one roll. I also noticed on the same transaction she missed at least one of my $1.00 Hershey Pot of Gold coupons. That’s a total of $9.49 down the drain! Guess I need to pay more attention as the cashier rings up my purchase!
