One Week to Launch: Amazon Kindle Fire

by Christie Bisbee on November 8, 2011

The NEW Amazon Kindle Fire will be released in exactly a week – on November 15, 2011. You can pre-order now to reserve your spot, since orders are on a first come, first served basis.

I’m really excited about the Kindle Fire, because it seems like a great combination of reader and tablet at a nice price. The Kindle Fire will have movies, apps, games, music, reading and web browser all for the low price of $199, with Free Super Saver Shipping.

  • 18 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazine, and books
  • Amazon Appstore – thousands of popular apps and games
  • Ultra-fast web browsing & Free cloud storage for all your Amazon content
  • Vibrant color touchscreen with extra-wide viewing angle
  • Fast, powerful dual-core processor
  • Amazon Prime members enjoy unlimited, instant streaming of over 10,000 popular movies and TV shows

The Kindle Fire will have a 7-inch display with 16 million colors. It’s 30 times tougher then plastic! It only weighs 14.6 oz so it’ll be very easy to toss in your purse.

The Kindle Fire will have access to 100,000 movies and TV shows, 17 million songs and hundreds of Kindle books,  magazines and newspapers. If you have Amazon Prime, you’ll be able to enjoy instant, unlimited, commercial-free streaming of over 11,000 movies and TV shows at no cost.

And with Free Amazon Cloud Storage you’ll be able to start a movie on Kindle Fire and transfer it to your TV. Plus there’s also over 100 exclusive graphic novels (which my hubby is VERY excited about!).

Kindle Owners’ will also be able to take advantage of the “Lending Library”, so you can choose from thousands of books to borrow for free. There’s also access to the most popular Android apps and games. So I can play my Angry Birds, on my Kindle. 😉

It looks pretty cool to me. What do you guys think? Is this on your holiday list?

I have been looking at these for my 10 year old son. He has a nintendo ds and has been asking for a laptop. After looking at the Fire I was wondering if it would be a combination between the two? Any takes on this

Iv been watching the development since the fire was announced. I waited for this kindle version to come out actually… ever since E readers hit the market. This thing will virtually replace my lap top for media consumption. I’m on pins and needles waiting…just one week to go!

This, the protection/warranty and the leather case are the only thing I asked for from hubby. 🙂

Hubby pre-ordered it for me and gave me the slip for my birthday a few weeks ago, I am SO excited to get it! I have been on Etsy for a week trying to find a cover I like!

You can still browse the internet on it right? Other websites other than amazon?

Do you think there is any chance this will be on sale on Black Friday anyone??? Wondering if I should wait to order…

I doubt this will go on sale black friday. I think they are already losing $50 on it. They plan to make up the loss in amazon media sales. There are also reportedly thousands of preorders. Plus, I have never seen a kindle go on sale.

I think it is somewhat small only 7 inches? I would rather she buy a tablet than this.
