FREE & Cheap CoverGirl Products!

by Christie Bisbee on October 3, 2011

Some of you may have gotten a fabulous coupon in your P&G inserts for $8/2 Covergirl face products. CoverGirl breaks down it’s products, into face, eyes and lips and there are quite a few items that fall under “face” including Foundation, Powder, Blush, Concealer, Bronzer and Face tools. You can check out the products considered face HERE.

I was pretty shocked by the awesomeness of this coupon. You can call P&G if you’d like to confirm, (as I did), that they do indeed consider all of those items face products. Some of the CoverGirl products were ringing up B1G1 50% off for me today. Here are some deals you can grab this week!

Oh Penny – Don’t confuse me! LOL. 😉 For a moment there I thought I really flaked out… LOL.

No – these deals are at Wags. The deals at CVS are different… You can see the CVS deals HERE. 🙂

When I went to my Wags yesterday to do this deal there were no signs posted for BOGO 1/2 off. I tried to price online before I went and on the Wags website the covergirl products were in fact BOGO. Don’t know if they just don’t have signs posted in my store or if it’s only online but I ended up having to go to CVS for something else and just did the deal there 🙁

The cosmetics should be ringing up B1G1. Always have them check prices for you even though there might not be signs. For whatever reason (in my area anyway) many stores are HORRIBLE about putting up signs. If it says BGLP next to the price when you scan it than it’s B1G1 50% off.

Seriously, if you never have them price check and depend on signs alone – you’ll never get the best deals. (Since 1/2 the time they don’t put them up).

Putting up tags is extremely time consuming. I absolutely hate when customers complain about this at the beginning of Sunday morning when there’s TONS of other things I have to do (help ring, fill soda, stock shelves, etc). Please be aware that it’s not that we don’t want to put the tags up, it’s that we simply aren’t superheroes.

Someone some stores in my area seem to get them all up by Monday and others don’t EVER during the month. So, I think it’s more about management at the individual stores than anything else. I think Walgreens can afford to pay someone to come in a few extra hours in a week to help with this.

I agree with Christy….2 stores close to me are completely different when it comes to signage. One puts them ALL up, and my closest one hardly. As a store, your losing money by not placing your tags up. People are more likely to buy stuff on sale than not. Especially high drug store prices. Your store should offer up some overtime, or hire some more people 🙂 I know as a customer, I would appreciate all the signage 🙂

My CVS in Hawaii has all Cover Girl on sale this week at 40% off, so yesterday I got two compacts for only .18 each. Thanks for posting the list on what is considered “face product”!!

I think I will hang on to my CG cpns and wait to see if there is a RR deal later this month.

OMG Christie, I didn’t know that you had a Wild For CVS too, I’ve only been doing Walgreens, I’m so excited I can shop at both now! Question, how much do you budget for your weekly or monthly spending each store?

Reply

Christie October 3, 2011 at 1:25 pm

Hey Sabrina – Just started really on the CVS site but yes, I have both on every corner where I live. 🙂

I try to limit myself to about $5 a week at each including tax, which once you are rolling your ECBs or your RR, is pretty easy to do. Sometimes I spend a little more at one so I lower the other or sometimes I spend less at both. 🙂

Is the B1G1 50% off a monthly deal? It’s not in the ad and we have no signs at all. I’m going again today and will do a few price checks.

There were no signs for me either but the blush rang up that way. The face tools did not.

Christie (or anyone with help!)

I’m not sure where this question should go – I was at Wags the other day where Old Spice was on sale B1G1half off, plus I had the B1G1F coupon. The two items were 5.99. Here’s briefly what the receipt looked like:

Old Spice Body Wash 5.99
Old Spice Body Wash 5.99
-3.00 Wags B1G1 half
-2.99 Mfr Coupon (cashier keyed this amt)

I called customer service, and the person I spoke to told me that the cashier should have taken off 5.99 for the second item (which I thought was correct).

The store manager called me this morning and told me that customer service was wrong and that they did the transaction correctly and that if I have trouble with coupons, I should read the policy. It doesn’t clarify in the coupon policy. Any insight?

It looks like to me that you didnt get the b1g1 at all. If anything, they usually price weird like one at 3.79 and the other $2 something. I think your store mgr was wrong, the prices on your receipt list 5.99 each, and I would have fought for that amount.

Reply

Chel October 3, 2011 at 5:17 pm

!!! I should have fought for it but she was really rude to begin with, plus the circular explanation she was giving me just was upsetting. The main reasoning she was giving me was, “YOU HAVE TO BUY ONE TO GET ONE FREE!”

lol…I am buying one…at half price.

Hi, I think your Bogo coupon should have been worth the 5.99 too but I just watched the video that the krazy coupon lady posted on bogo 50% off and she said you would get the cheaper one free then…so by that then the cashier did it right. Hmmm? I wonder. So many ways things are done. I wish there was a black and white clear cut explanation to all those hard questions!

in my opinion, and that is how has been done in my stores with this scenario, cashier did the right way.
B1G1 50% AND B1G1 FREE promo do not work well with each other, and since your secon iteam is 50% that is the price that will honor on the coupon.
This is to ou/consumers disadvantage, but it is the right way, because cashier should be puting in that price on the coupon, and that is what the store will be reimbursed for.
Sometimes, you will come accross the transaction where cashier did not pay attention/not know well and they give you full value back, and we/consumers like that because it is in our advantage but in my opinion it is not ethical.
Just my opinion!

The b1 get 1 half off is the stores sale. The b1g1 free is from the manufacturer. The store is willingly taking the hit on the half price item. If the cashier only takes off the half price for the man. Q, it is like not getting the store sale at all. There is nothing unethical about using these coupons that way.!

Chel October 3, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Here’s the deal: The store still gets theirs, whether its from me or the manu.

Deal 1 = good for consumer
Old Spice 5.99
Old Spice 5.99
B1G1 Coupon 5.99
Wags B1G1 Half 3.00
OOP – 2.99 (Wags gets 2.99 from me, 5.99 from manu.)

Deal 2 = good for Manufacturer
Old Spice 5.99
Old Spice 5.99
Wags B1G1 Half 3.00
B1G1 Coupon 2.99
OOP – 5.99 (Wags gets 5.99 from me, 2.99 from manu.)

Seems to me like they get paid the same from either scenario, so why not make customers happy and keep them loyal to Wags if it costs them NO EXTRA?!?!?!

I don’t see this as unethical AT ALL!!!

Only the mascara and eyeliner are on sale @ my Wags, the blush and bronzer were full price : ( I’m gonna hang onto mine and hope for a RR deal. : )

Same here in Florida!!

You should have gotten the 5.99 off. That is a manufacturers coupon and the store will be reimbursed the full amount. I have done this deal and similar deals ( like the axe deal) and that is ALWAYS the way it is done.

Reply

Chel October 3, 2011 at 5:09 pm

That’s what I suspected, Lorrie. Thanks for the insight! I did a similar deal with the Dove a couple months ago, and my cashier took the full amount, not the half. Thanks! In no way do I wish to cheat the store, but I wish they didn’t want to cheat me!!!

Hey, I posted on P&G’s Facebook page today to ask for clarification on the coupon and they told me it was good for ANY Covergirl product to include mascara, eye shadows lipstick etc.

Reply

Christie October 3, 2011 at 8:20 pm

:-O That’s me with my jaw dropping.

They told me only the products listed under face on their website when I spoke to them on the phone, but who knows at this point. I swear I wish they’d be more specific. I work well with specifics. LOL. 🙂

i just read every post about this on the cover girl facebook page and the only thing cover girl said about it was to follow the link to their website to find out what products are considered “face” products. NO where does it list eye shadow, mascara or lipstick as a face product. Every blog on the planet has given this information out. People just dont care to follow the rules!

lorrie October 3, 2011 at 11:39 pm
