VapoDrops & Puffs FREE or $.05 Each!

by Christie Bisbee on February 24, 2011

You can get a GREAT deal on Vicks and Puffs if your store carries the VapoDrops! Not every store carries these but if your store does here’s a great deal for you.

If your store follows the coupon policy then you can get 5 boxes of Vicks VapoDrops and 4 Boxes of Puffs for FREE. However, since I find most stores don’t follow their own policy, here’s a way to get it all for $.48 and avoid the beepfest!

You’ll need both the $1/1 coupons (which expire 2/28) and the coupons for the FREE Puffs coming this Sunday 2/27. So, you’ll have Sunday and Monday to do this great deal!

Buy
5 ā€“ Vicks Vapo Drops 2/$1.79
4 – Puffs $1.79 each
Total = $4.48
(4) -$1/1 Vicks Product, Any ā€“ 01-16-11 PG x2/28
(4) -FREE Puffs (up to $1.99) wyb ONE Vicks Products 2-27-11 PG x3/31

Total = $.48 for EVERYTHING or about $.05 EACH!

I found these by the front of my store by the cash register.

(Thanks Nena!)

Is that math right?

Reply

Tami February 24, 2011 at 5:35 pm

Are you sure this math is correct? The cough drops would be 1.79 + 1.79 + .99 = 4.57

Christie February 24, 2011 at 5:46 pm

Tami & Julianna – Yes, I’m sure. I bought these myself last month. Iā€™m looking at my receipt. Only the first one rings up at $.99, the second at $.80, then from that point forward (they alternate between) ā€“ $.90, $.89, $.90 and so on. Once you have bought the first one, no other one will be $.99. So my total was $4.48. So it’ll be a whole $.09 cheaper that what you’d think.

i get .57 total b/c the 5th vapo drops would be $.99 since your buying an odd amount….

You guys are cracking me up.

I’m looking at my receipt, the total was $4.48.

If you want to pay $.09 more that’s ok too. LOL.

I went today to my wags to buy somethings so I would not waste 3 RR that I had, well anyways I bought the arnicare and used the coupon that was inside of the box of another arnicare that I bought before and it beeped. I was so surprised, I told the cashier that it came from an arnicare that I had bought before and she did not want to push it through eventhough it was the same product. To make story short I asked if she could call the manager and she did, he wasn’t sure why it was beeping and after a while he finally pushed it through but not before telling me that they were not longer going to take coupons if they beeped, and aparently they also told all the cashiers that too! can they do that even though it’s a manufacturer coupon? It is our fault that they beep? Sorry I’m just wondering!!

Yolanda – By any chance did your store get the new scanners? They beep at everything, they are terrible.

well, my Anicare coupon beeped too and she pushed it through!

If you combine this with the Sinex deal this week, the Sinex will absorb the overage since it is a Vicks product.

You could do this:

(3) DayQuil or NyQuil Sinex $7.99 ea
(4) Vicks Vapo Drops 2/$1.79
(4) Puffs $1.79 ea

Total: $34.71

Use
(3) -$4/1 Sinex product 2-27-11 PG x3/31
(4) -$1/1 Vicks Product, Any ā€“ 01-16-11 PG x2/28
(4) -FREE Puffs (up to $1.99) wyb ONE Vicks Products 2-27-11 PG x3/31
(1) 20 ct NyQuil, Dayquil $5.49 in ad Q (takes off $2.50)

Takes off $30.66

Total due $4.05 get back 10 RR.

Replying to Sean above. Because Wags won’t let you use more coupons than products purchased you’d have to buy something else in your transaction to avoid the stink-eye from the cashier.

Don’t think so christie they look old, and I never had problems before even one of the managers would push it through but now she would not do it. They had to call one of the head managers!

Replying to Angela – I think Sean’s transaction is okay because the in-ad Q is a Walgreen’s coupon and does not count towards your coupon total. Walgreens won’t let you have more manufacturer’s coupons or RR than products, but Walgreen’s coupons don’t count towards your total coupons.

How do you get multiples of the PG coupons?

Darlene February 25, 2011 at 10:45 am

Elena – being a new coupon shopper, I wonder how you acquired 30 P&G inserts.

Hi!
I actually work at Walgreens, but of course I’m always trying to get these deals. I’m still new to the coupons. I was wondering. Since I don’t have FOUR coupons, would the deal work if I cut the deal in half to TWO coupons? Like instead of purchasing 4 vicks and purchased only 2 vicks & the same things with the puffs, would the deal still work out right? Or is there a reason you use multiple coupons? Thanks! =)

Darlene,
You just buy more papers. I get more at the Dollar store for $1.00 ea. Or you can buy the inserts from a coupon clipping service. The one I use is http://www.couponsthingsbydede.com

Is the free puffs wyb one vicks q going to be in this sunday’s paper? I don’t see it listed on sundaycouponpreview.com at all. Someone help please! šŸ™‚

Is this regional and is it in the new insert or unadvertised

I have a question about this overage thing. I know the manufacturer’s don’t reimburse the stores the full value of the coupon if the product is less so if you use (2) 1.00/1 any vicks product on a 2/$1.79 deal Walgreens is only gonna get $1.79 back and not 2 dollars so that leaves $.21. Buying other products in the same family won’t absorb this loss for Walgreens because their only gonna get reimbursed for the purchase price. I know $.21 is not a lot but if everyone did it that would result in a big loss of money for Walgreens. Is this a right thing to do….not judging just asking.

The Vicks VapoDrops are 2/$2.00 in my area (St. Louis). So I think my math works out! šŸ™‚ Thanks for the heads up Christie and Nena.

The stores DO get the full value of the coupon plus 8 cents. My best friend is a Walgreens manager and I use to work there also. The manuf has no idea what the store charges. I use to tally up cpns. its kinda a joke how its done but we the consumers do have the upper hand.

Besides the $1/1 in the 1/16 PG insert, I found another $1/1 Vicks Q in my 1/30 PG. Both expire 2/28, of course.

Christie,
Did you try this deal? Just wondering if it beeps, or a good scenario to try. I just have 3 of the vicks qs and 1 of the puffs. Thanks! And thanks for all you do–you’re incredible!

Christie February 27, 2011 at 6:57 pm

Yes, it worked for me I bought the 5 and used 4 coupons so no beeps! šŸ™‚
