I want to give you all a heads up and let you know about a major change that’s coming our way. We will be seeing a Walgreens Balance Rewards card launching in September.
Many of you know that Walgreens tested a loyalty program in select markets last year. We don’t know how much of the test market program will be carried over to the new loyalty program but some of the basics, like the rewards card, will be included.
Here is some of what we know…
Walgreens Balance Rewards will allow customers to earn and redeem Bonus Points and get personalized offers
You’ll be able to enroll in the store, online and with the mobile app
You will earn Bonus Points when you make purchase items featured in the weekly ad, from Pharmacy or with personalized offers
You can redeem 5,000 points as $5 to pay for your purchases
You can’t use Bonus Points for Alcohol, Gift Cards, Prescription Co-pays, Stamps, prepaid cards, dairy, tobacco.
Bonus Points expire after 36 months from date of earning or after 6 months of no activity
You must be a Balance Rewards member to get the sale price
You will be able to manage your account with the Walgreens mobile app or on-line
I suspect that ultimately one of the largest influences on the new program will come from a drugstore in the U.K. called Boots. Walgreens and Boots recently announced a merger and management has indicated that they are looking to the Boots Rewards program, known as the Boots Advantage card, for ideas for the Walgreens Balance Rewards Card.
Walgreens employees will get to test the new loyalty program this month before it’s released to the public in September. I also expect to see changes and tweaking during the first year. I don’t think how the program gets rolled out is what it will look like a year or two from now. Walgreens will have the ability to track purchases with the card, so I am hoping we do see some reasonable limits so we all have a better chance of finding deals on the shelves.
I’ll share facts and details as they come in and we’ll learn more as we get closer to September. I just wanted to give you all a heads up and share the facts currently available on the program.
Did you know that you can reload and reuse your Starbucks Gift Cards? If you have one, don’t throw it away and register it here to get your FREE $5. Plus, make sure you use it often so you get those cool rewards… If you don’t have one, don’t worry – just pick up a Starbucks Card from you local store and register it online (a $5 minimum load is required) or download the Starbucks mobile app, create an account and get a digital card.
This sweet offer is available to NEW MEMBERS ONLY through Thursday, March 14, 2013. So, don’t miss out – joining the My Starbucks Rewards Loyalty program is also FREE! It’s time for me to join too! Yay! 🙂
The NEW Walgreens digital camera came out this week. The camera is digital, so it requires no film and requires no memory card, however the pictures can only be printed at Walgreens. After the Friends & Family discount & the in ad coupon, I paid only $19.99 for the camera! 😉
Here’s how it works… -You can take up to 50 pictures with the camera. It includes a 4x zoom, a flash and up to 5.1 megapixels and just requires 3 AAA batteries.
-Once you have taken your 50 pictures you return the camera to Walgreens to print your photos.
– You get the camera back with your photos. And each time you print your photos you’ll also get a FREE storage CD containing your pics so you can transfer them to your computer.
The camera also comes with a booklet that contains coupons. These don’t expire till 12/31/12 and they are Wags Qs so you should be able to use them over and over again.
The Booklet Includes -$5/1 My personal movie DVD -B1G1 FREE Photo Magazine Cover -B1G1 FREE 8×10 Collage Print -$3 OFF Fun Pics -B1G1 FREE 8×10 Enlargements -$3 Photo Greeting Cards -$3 OFF Photo Poster -B1G1 Photo Books -$2 OFF Ultimate Value Pack
The camera is very lightweight and compact. You can delete pictures you don’t want after looking at them on the view screen and it also has a timer. It’s pretty much just the essentials and for $20 it seems like a good buy under the right circumstances. Like when you don’t want to risk loosing an expensive camera or your 5 year old really wants his own camera! I’ll let you guys know how it goes when I print my first set of pics. 🙂
